    Unhappy It's not I don't love anymore mangas/animes, but.....

I've lived with anime/manga since I was 6-7 years old, I've seen great shows like Spice & Wolf, FMA, Ghosts in the Shell, Ame & Yuki (one of the most beautifull and worthly thing I've seen), etc.., and currently, I read Berserk, a magnificient piece of art.

I continue to like anime/manga because It has become a part of my world and my imagination..

...but in the same time, I begin to be tired of those stuffs...

Because, for like 10 years (perhaps even more), I see over and over the same gimmicks, cliches who really annoy me.

    Like...

-the horrible eternal pretty and thin teenage charac-design with "carnival" clothes taste.
-the spectacular but non consistent fights and powers.
-the hysterical/insensitive killing-machine girls and big-headed dumb jerk punks.
    -the stereotypical hot-blooded/moe/etc. characters.
    -the "highschool vs fantasy" plot.
-the "power of frienship" and "virtue of mankind" who means more "beating the crap out of things who dare to annoy humans".
-the over-the-top fanservice (boobs, blood, etc...)
-the fact they keep a good angel smile even after they've slaughtered opponents without any kind of repercussions.
    -Etc...

Like I said, I continue to like manga/animes and the escapim they offer, but with the time and with current japanese shows, I fell It begins to be more and more a mindless form of escapim where turning off my brain is the only way to enjoy a show. (no offense.)
I will lie to you and myself if I say there aren't exeptions (even with gimmicks I've quoted) and I know every entertainements , japanese or not, have theirs problems, but It's now hard to find a manga/anime which I say "I like it!" or "It has something!".

I don't know if I should take a break with anime/mangas or continue to search rare jewels under hundred of craps...

And, am I alone to think like this?

Its the typical tropes of the Manga/Anime universe. Its literally no different than any other form of art/media, they all have tropes and cliches.

Well anime and manga are certainly not for everyone, as with pretty much any controversial stuff. Some things will just not work for you when you're too indoctrinated with western societies, but if you can get past this, forget about where you come from and what your parents or friends might think about this crazy as hell stuff, then you're one step closer to a bigger world. And remember, not everything is fan service. There are gems well hidden away.

Still, nothing wrong with stepping back if you can't take it. These things are not being made for western audiences after all, and will hopefully never be since this is one of the key redeeming values of Japanese stuff, but it might be just too much for some.

Its a close second, but not even a master piece like SAO could save the shit hole that anime was becoming. Kill la Kill reinvented what anime could be.

Do you even have taste? SAO is a modern classic.

You probably want something that isn't shounen, in other words, not that stuff that's aimed towards teenage boys that contains all that which you mentioned.

They are difficult to find though. I'm an older guy and I've got a lot of trouble finding any manga or anime that doesn't make me wanna throw up. What I can recommend you right off the bat is Battle Angel Alita and the follow-up Gunnm. The manga is superb. Amazing art, touching story with plenty of depth. It weaves in it's story so well and comes back to really old parts of it far, far in that make you go "WHAT". It's rather dystopian and dark though.

Kill la Kill merely re-invented the ecchi harem genre. SAO reinvented the entire anime industry. Every show since then has at least one character heavily inspired by SAO's deep characters.

Sword Art Online a masterpiece? You're joking right? It's a heap of cliché's about a guy s powerfantasies. It's really, really bad.

Nope and you should check out the DC anime movies.

Also if you are into adult humor then check out Archer.
    You cared enough to post.

Until you realise how SAO is actually an existential masterpiece, basically telling us that there's no way out of this life until we find our spiritual dual-wield ability, it may seem that way. It's like Kafka and Carl Jung came together to make a new world, in anime form.

Time of Eve was pretty good as well imho, it kind of plays into the "highschool" cliche, but just barely, as you only see them in highschool a couple of times. most of the story takes place elsewhere.
Still I cry, tears like pouring rain, Innocent is my lurid pain.

Uhhh, clearly you haven't watched Kill la Kill. The entire premise is a metaphor for a girl transitioning into adulthood. This is as deep as they come, the fan service and everything else is a thin veil and only shallow minded plebeians would only see Kill la Kill as being a show with just fan service and ecchi.

I weep for you for having missed SAO's amazingly layered characters and character interactions, were you simply not paying attention?

    What? really? are you serious?
There's nothing original about it, the characters all follow typical archetypes and the "trapped in a game" thing has already been done before.

And if we're talking about THE ANIME specifically, it wasn't even all that well done. The light novels did the story justice much better (unsurprisingly, since they are the source material). The anime's plot was pushed forward far too quickly and the characters weren't given sufficient time to develop.
SAO was good, I liked it quite a bit (as i said in the first place... so I don't know why you're questioning my taste. Not that questioning my taste is in any way an argument that supports your point), but a modern classic? hardly.

It has clearly been saved way before that by Naruto.
