I've lived with anime/manga since I was 6-7 years old, I've seen great shows like Spice & Wolf, FMA, Ghosts in the Shell, Ame & Yuki (one of the most beautifull and worthly thing I've seen), etc.., and currently, I read Berserk, a magnificient piece of art.
I continue to like anime/manga because It has become a part of my world and my imagination..
...but in the same time, I begin to be tired of those stuffs...
Because, for like 10 years (perhaps even more), I see over and over the same gimmicks, cliches who really annoy me.
Like...
-the horrible eternal pretty and thin teenage charac-design with "carnival" clothes taste.
-the spectacular but non consistent fights and powers.
-the hysterical/insensitive killing-machine girls and big-headed dumb jerk punks.
-the stereotypical hot-blooded/moe/etc. characters.
-the "highschool vs fantasy" plot.
-the "power of frienship" and "virtue of mankind" who means more "beating the crap out of things who dare to annoy humans".
-the over-the-top fanservice (boobs, blood, etc...)
-the fact they keep a good angel smile even after they've slaughtered opponents without any kind of repercussions.
-Etc...
Like I said, I continue to like manga/animes and the escapim they offer, but with the time and with current japanese shows, I fell It begins to be more and more a mindless form of escapim where turning off my brain is the only way to enjoy a show. (no offense.)
I will lie to you and myself if I say there aren't exeptions (even with gimmicks I've quoted) and I know every entertainements , japanese or not, have theirs problems, but It's now hard to find a manga/anime which I say "I like it!" or "It has something!".
I don't know if I should take a break with anime/mangas or continue to search rare jewels under hundred of craps...
And, am I alone to think like this?
