I got myself out of a speeding ticket

So there I was speeding in a 35 going 115, yes you can all say I'm stupid, in my defense I was the only one the road. Needless to say a cop pulls out after I drive by him and I stop. I decided to do something I thought I'd never do, I made up a bullshit story but I made even myself believe it was true.

I made myself sweat, I looked as if something was so important I was shaking... I told the officer "my wife just went into labor". I put on my best worried, sweat stricken face while shaking to grab my license and registration. He looked and it, asked my wife's name which I promptly made up quite fast, asked how long she had been pregnant for which I replied with "9 and and a half months, a bit later than normal", and finally asked why she was not with me to which I said, "she was out with some friends but not drinking as she can't".

The cop looked at me again and said, "just slow down a bit and congratulations". Yeah... What a night.

In many jurisdictions, going that high over the limit is a felony, which could mean prison time.

Usually I attempt to be an extremely diplomatic poster but you're basically saying... You performed a reckless action, regardless of road activity, you made up a credible story to an official authority who was going to punish you for your wrong doings, took advantage of his super kind behavior and now you're on an internet forum to brag about your incredible talent and skill..?

You should be extremely careful with stories like that... often times if the cop isn't being lazy if they are told a story about wife in labor (at a speed of over 100) they will follow you "escort" you to the hospital and if things don't check out your ticket/fine goes up exponentially. As far as i'm told here in Pennsylvania they can revoke your drivers license first offense/no warning for speeds in excess of 100.

115 in a 35 is pretty outrageous. Pretty sure that's mandatory jail in many places.

In any case, I wouldn't advise making up stories to the police (but I suppose if this case is true, then you really didn't have much to lose). I also wouldn't advise going over 3x the speed limit.

I usually don't, usually I turn into a neighborhood and weave through the streets not going fast since you really can't and just park my car in a driveway, get out and wait for 10 minutes.
