I still hear this from time-to-time. "I pay the same 15 dollars a month that geared raiders pay. I should be able to get the same epics they do even though I'm a casual player who can only play for 10 minutes a day."

I have always been of the opinion that my 15 dollars was for access to the online world and nothing else. I don't have to raid. I don't have to pvp, or quest or level or even fish if I don't want to. I'm not entitled to anything in the game that I haven't earned through the established methods. If I had my way, you'd only be able to get pve epics and higher from actual raiding (which isn't LFR) and some professions. Dungeons, including heroics? Blues.

That's my take.

Personally, Your 15$ a month is NOTHING more than to use BLIZZARD'S servers. It entitles you to nothing, if you want the heroic gear find the time to play and EARN it. If not' quit. That's my take on it. If you want a pay to win game go play another game then. If you want all the shiny epics and such for no work their are PLENTY of private servers out there.

Your $15 pays for game access (literally renting a space on the servers), server maintenance, and paying all personnel involved with the game. Nothing more. It doesn't give you a right to everything in the game. Somethings are meant to be worked for. You're paying for the content. Go consume it.

Reposting what I said in the other thread:

Players spent $225 to play the game during SoO (15 months at $15 each). That's 1.46 billion dollars assuming 6.5m subs. SoO probably didn't even cost 1/100th of that. This is a subscription based game. If they are going to throw out "mini-expansions" they should be free. I already feel paying for expansions doesn't make sense but do they really expect people to pay $15/m and $50/year at the same time?

What's the point of our monthly fee if we have to spend $50 on 2 raid tiers?

Whatever we are paying for, it's definitely not content. It seems they are now going with 2 tiers per $50 expansion, making matters even worse.

Literally nobody has EVER said this. Not even one person in history has ever suggested that the "same epics" should be available.

The argument is that they should be able to see the content not get the same items. And you know this. Obviously you know this and you knew it before you wrote the above ridiculous hyperbole BS.

I am sure Blizzard is happier with the 15 dollars of the guy who plays casually for 1 hr every other day than the self-proclaimed hardcore who plays 6 hrs a day and constantly tells them how much they suck and how lazy they are.

Nah..at the end of the day, they like both..because BOTH PAY!

One consumes content slower and doesn't rush them to put out new content as fast. I'm sure they like the casuals more for that reason alone.

It's funny because all the advertising about World of Warcraft is about "create YOUR character" and "play YOUR character". Even account options to recover "YOUR" character or modify "YOUR" character appearance, etc.

This goes back to my old debate about how we don't actually own our characters thanks to some special fine reading in the Terms of Service.

I don't have a problem with money at the moment so I can deal with being screwed over. My point is people shouldn't defend what they charge for the game currently. We all know we are being screwed.

I've known casual players who are butthurt and think they deserve the same epics as Heroic raiders because they pay the same fee...

When TBC was released the sales from boxes around was enough money to pay off every single year of WoW's developement and customer support up to that point (from 2000 something to 2007). So basically they got to bank all sub moneys they got.

If I pay 6 euros for swimming pool entry, does it grant me the ability to break world records in swimming? I do not think so, I can train and work for it, but the entry fee doesn't grant me, that I will be as good as Michael Phelps or, that I will be able to use the pool as good as professional swimmer. Well yeah, the price may be steep at this point but it is what it is. They're not going to change it and if they do it will only go up because of Sub loss. So I like the keep silent and don't rattle the cage option.

There are many people even on this forum who claim they should receive the same items for ''casual content'', if I may call it that.
Hell, people get bothered if they're asked whether blizzard should change epics to come from Heroic raids only.

And again with the special snowflake color argument. What do you care if someone else's gear is purple, blue, pink, or yellow? It isn't yours, don't worry about it. You want to stand out? Then get the gear that titles on it. Heroic, mythic, warforged, etc. If someone's purples say LFR on them, and yours say warforged, yours are obviously better. Good for you. Why would you take away epics from people just because you want to feel more special? Some people actually feel accomplished for completing LFR or heroic dungeons for their epics. Don't rain on their parade. Just as you said, they spend $15 a month to access the game, who are you to tell them what they can and can't have?
