Well, for feline races we have the Tol'vir and Saberon... for Avian we have the Harpies (which have no males) or the Arrakoa.

I'm not sure the Saberon really have a "fit" as being a playable race, nor do they really seem to fill any sort of niche, in my mind, of "archetypes..." Socially, they're basically trolls that are giant cats.

Now, the Arrakoa would be pretty awesome... they strike me as "brutal blood elves." But again, it's fitting them into the existing lore for the Alliance and Horde. Something that wouldn't be impossible, but it'd be kind of hard to fit it in a non-Draenor related expansion...

Oh, and they also need racial flight.

Maybe a special subrace of Saberon that were captured, sent back to Azeroth and experimented on by some of the Bronze Dragons? As for Tol'vir and pretty much all other taur races, I don't like them, they're just so....... unnatural looking.

I think that's kind of a long shot, frankly.

I'd say the two "biggest" stretches in WoW races were the Draenei (which had to have their lore heavily altered) and the Worgen. But neither of them really felt "shoehorned" to me. The worgen make enough sense, seeing as worgen were skulking around the general region since Vanilla (I even remember reading a fan theory in BC or WotLK that the residents of Gilneas had been attacked by the worgen.) The Draenei, after you swallow the whole switchero with the eredar and tying them with the broken/lost ones, make enough sense as well.
