Do you think new BE models could make it to the launch?

I was wonering... Between each new model there was approximately 2 weeks - 1 month period. Currently, Blizz has only 2 more models to do, which would take approximately 2 months... The launch is in 2 months as well, and they have said they started working on it already. I know that it has been said that BElves won't make it for launch, but it would make it appear A LOT better if all the races were updated in WoD. Like, a full feature. If there was a person who doesn't visit MMO-Champ, just plays WoW casually, he would expect that BElf would also make it to the launch. Now imagine such a person logging in to his character at launch day, all excited to see how his character looks like now, how it plays, logs in... And sees no change in great disappointment. Then, he looks at the trailer, "updated character models", looks at his blood elf... You know the rest.

Me, myself, don't play it, I'm just really curious if there is any chance they could make it. They seem to have enough time, and I was just wondering, if you feel the same.

Arguments FOR BElves making it to the launch:
    - They still have enough time for that
    - The timestamp between each model update seems similiar to the remaining time
    - It would make the expac release feel more complete
    - It would make them avoid LOTS of complaints from people playing BElves, who do not track any site like MMO-Champ
    - They have already started working on them

    Arguments against:
    - It has been stated that they won't make it for launch (the biggest "against", I think)
    - No mention of BElves update

They won't be for the simple fact that Blizz already said they won't be. There isn't really much to debate.

Theoritically, we could see one of the two models at launch(male or female), even with less facial options at first.

    But it's unlikely.

Anything is possible i guess, but i'm not having any hopes now.

I would like them however, to give a timeline. It does seem like there should be enough time, but i don't know. We saw all the models some time before release, but they are still a work in progress.

If there is a chance Blood Elves are making it to launch after all, Blizzard will say so at the last minute. If there are even remote chances to miss them even by a few days, which is very very likely, they will prepare you for an after-launch release(as they did).

So yeah, anything is possible, given the timeframe, but keep a small basket.

Your logic is flawed because the time in between previews is not representative of the time that it takes them to make each model. Also, none of the models are 100% "done" at this point, even the ones that have already been shown. They may have started work on the BE models, but they're also working on every other model, as well. Everything is still a WIP, and they've already stated that BEs won't make it in for launch.

It's possible that they may finish in time and give us a nice surprise, but don't expect them to.

Hit the nail on the head.

they said that they won't be ready for the launch (sadly) and seeing that they have been cutting content (which i'm sure is because they ran out of time) i'm positive that their statement wasn't an understatement

Considering how much fine tuning is continually going into all the current models its far from saying that each one received exactly a month.

They'd need to be completely done with all the other models which are still a work in progress and then begin all the work and fine tuning of the BE's while also doing everything else the specific devs working on the models are responsible for to get the xpac ship ready.

It'd be really cool if they did as a surprise after saying they aren't gonna be able to, but I'd continue expecting them not to be able to.

Who knows though, It might not be that long after launch before the BE's go in considering.

There's no chance that they will give us BE models at launch. They even stated so and Tom Chilton recently confirmed this. They will surely focus on polishing currently released models as they are in some cases still very much WIP. I bet we will see belf models as a part of the first minor patch which I predict will come 3-4 months after launch.

With no indication as to their development, or how they spend their development time, this question cannot be answered with a simple binary yes or no answer.

We might see an artcraft, but they've given themselves at least 5 more months to work on them. They would be stupid not to make the best use of that time.

    No, for 2 reasons:

    1) they have already stated they won't be
    2) considering how they've had to scrap features as big as capital cities and an entire zone (to mention a few), I highly doubt they have the spare time to work on character models.

However, as Shoc said, we MAY see an artcraft in the future showing the work-in-progress.

They said no, so I'm going to go with that.

The capitals weren't scrapped, they just decided very early on that the spaces were way too big to be worth spending the resources in order to turn it into a capital city. Scrapping would imply that they wasted resources on trying to turn into a city. The same goes for Tanaan, a big chunk of it used for the starting experience, but the rest has always been 'saved' for a future content patch in the same way the Isle of Thunder was saved for later.

Not to mention, that the team that is working on player models is completely independent of any of the other departments, so the Blood Elves not being done for launch doesn't really have much to do with other content being delayed.

Pretty pathetic tbh that it takes them that long to make a new model when they make millions daily just off wow. Its not like the model is something from call of duty or halo its a cartoony piece of clay.

It's actually kind of impressive if you consider that the original plan (as of Blizzcon) for the new model revamp was:

    - Update the races gradually over the course of the expansion
    - Only update the Vanilla races, BC races last priority
    - Have no unique faces, add them in over the course of the expansion

    What we ended up getting:

    - All Vanilla races plus Draenei in for launch
    - Unique faces included at launch

Only missing the Blood Elves for launch is going completely above and beyond what we could have expected otherwise.

Do people still think throwing money at a problem makes everything better and faster or did I miss some sort of sarcasm memo.

They could get done. It's like going to a restaurant and being told you have a half hour wait, then getting seated in 15 minutes; a 15 minute wait is kind of tedious, but it feels good if you thought it was going to be twice as long.

They'll make it in for 6.1 but, not any earlier. They MIGHT be able to get a gender in but they won't add only one at a time.

People redo old games on a newer engines, like Morrowind remake, completely for free. That includes remodelling too.
Blizzard, a multimillion company which can hire the best artists, modellers, etc, and give them best software they can use and best workstations to work at, on the other side, makes new 20 new models for last two years, and still didn't manage to complete that task...

I'm not saying Blizzard is bad, but they are definitely lazy over all possible human limits.
No more time wasted in WoW.. still reading this awesome forum, though

They haven't said anything about the time they will be put in, and they also said nothing about whether or not they will put both the male and the female at the same time.

What we do know, is that a patch like 6.1 is not required for the models to be put in, with the new file system.
