It looks like they're going to call 8.2 Window 9 to get rid of the stigma, I can't see them rolling back most of the changes as they're almost all positives. I think the Start menu will be coming back but as long as it doesn't replace the Start screen I don't mind.

Just get rid of Metro, such a good OS without all that shit. I guess a good product from Microsoft is too much to ask for.

And yaaah we still got this rip of a tablet IOS. NO i do not want to start with a fucking desktop there is not the god damn desktop( IT brings nothing better then the desktop) The fact if you wanna go to "Computer" you need to go to the god amn appish desktop to find it, or make a copy. God i hate it. the best feedback i got from it was " you get used to it" then it is not a improvment

Too little too late, I'm using Linux Mint 17. Blizzard needs to catch up with the times and port their games over to Linux. Though WoW does run fine with Gallium-Nine open source drivers, it would be nice to have a native version. Before anyone starts, I'm enjoying an OS that I don't need anti-virus software and that doesn't have background programs eating up resources just to determine if there's an update for Java or Flash. Oh and UI choices that will make Windows 8 scream home to Microsoft.

I never got the windows 8 hate. Granted metro is fucking stupid but it takes 60secs to get rid of it, if you don't have 60 secs to spare to fix an issue you apparently hate than you mustn't hate it that much so stop complaining.

I've been perfectly happy with w8, hopefully w9 brings performance increases otherwise i'm not fussed about it.

So increased performance, responsiveness and overall greatness of the OS is not enough? Metro and touchscreen-first nature is putting you off, man?

Somehow, I understand you. I kept myself away from Win8 for 2 years and I wish I didn't. Once I forced myself to get used to it, I've fallen in love. Don't get me wrong, Win7 was great, but Win8 is a whole lot more awesome.

eww... i still use normal start menu. That metro thing is so fiddly and annoying , i hope with win9 they give a way to disable it/ use start menu without having download third party stuff/ edit registry/policies etc >.<

I haven't really "kept myself away" from Win8, I simply haven't bought a new notebook in a while and haven't felt the need to update the Win7 in my PC.

Increased performance sounds good though! But yeah, if i ever get Win8 or 9 the first thing I will do is take the 60 seconds Jakexe mentioned to get rid of the touchscreen crap.

Which is not correct, it will on tablets and mobile devices build on the touchscreen nature, but on the desktop you'll have a hard time finding touchscreen things.

No charms bar, "Start screen" integrated into the reborn start menu, before fullscreen Metro apps now running all in native Windows. This is the desktop experience.
Tablets will have the Metro stuff.

Basically, this article is full of bullshit and made up rumors, leakers have shown (and Microsoft themselves have told) that there is no longer a "desktop" and "tablet" version of their OS. It's now one, unified OS that will enable or disable features depending on which system it's installed on. Metro can be reactivated on the desktop if so desired, but leaks suggest that they did listen with the start menu and the removal of "touchscreen bullocks".

Because Windows 9 likely doesn't fix the issues with Windows 8 and 7. You can say it's faster and responsive but it seems no different to me. Windows needs.

#1 Windows update needs to have full driver packages. Don't give me graphic drivers without OpenGL, or printer drivers with no software. Should be able to handle the whole driver package without issue. Why do I need to visit AMD/Nvidia's website to get a proper driver package?

#2 Windows update needs to handle software updates. I use Firefox, flash, and Java but they all have their own methods to update. Usually sitting in the background eating up system resources, and Adobe is constantly trying to trick me in installing their crapware. Android and iOS do this but not Windows?

#3 No more anti-virus software. Shouldn't need it. Mac OSX doesn't and neither does Linux, and I don't care the reasons why. Sometimes the virus is better than the anti-virus software. Windows 8 gets infected with the same virus just like Windows 7. Doesn't seem all that advanced to me.

Yeah I agree, this is going to become the norm. Already happening with OS X.

I'll obviously wait on this, but Win 8.1 is absolutely fine since I got my Start button/menu back.
