Seeing as it's "middle ages" type fantasy, I can guess how all the WoW races smell:

    Terrible
“Do not lose time on daily trivialities. Do not dwell on petty detail. For all of these things melt away and drift apart within the obscure traffic of time. Live well and live broadly. You are alive and living now. Now is the envy of all of the dead.” ~ Emily3, World of Tomorrow

    Hmmm weird.

    Orcs - Sweat...
Undead - Like a damp cellar
Trolls - Come on I think we all know...
Blood Elves - I imagine overpowering perfumes
    Tauren - Mud and sweat
Goblins - Awful... I imagine they'd smell the worst for some reason
Pandaren - Whatever they had for lunch, and beer

I'd like to think that contracting the Worgen curse doesn't automatically mean personal hygiene goes out the window. I imagine that my Worgen character smells like a well groomed lap dog.

Considering that Humans seem to be the most diverse and cosmopolitan with a lot of influences from all Alliance races they would most likely smell according to their social status and profession. A farmer might smell like farmer, a blacksmith like something between coal and tar, a merchant or professional most likely something like homemade fresh soap, a nobleman or more successful trader merchant, mage more likely smell something like Blood Elves, having been exposed to and having traded with High Elves for centuries.

Most Alliance races would most likely share this Human trait, with the exception of the Dreanei, tho they also probably smell very civilized and all. About Worgen you need to keep in mind that they seem to spend most of their time in Human form and they change on choice. So it's unlikely they would smell unpleasant (Dog smell) which would mean they would have a hard time blending into the rest of the Alliance folk.

Of the Horde races we know that the Blood Elves have expressed that they don't really like the scents of their allies, especially not the smell of the Undead. The Goblins probably exhibit the same social stratification as the Humans.

In the novel cycle of hatred by Keith R. A. DeCandido, an orc in it describes how he enjoys being able to wash, to clean his tusks, seeing how when he was a prisoner in the internment camps, he lived in his own filth, and never wanted to go back there. So the assumption that orcs don't bath is just an immature assumption.

    Alliance:
    1. Human: Some form of cologne or perfume. Cuz men like Old Spice.
2.Gnome: Some sort of combination of rustic steel and oil. Females might have a faint smell like cherries.
3.Night elf: That weird foresty smell of a mix of live and dead leaves and rain water
4.Draenei: The inside of a church or temple, with incense and scented candles.
5.Dwarf: Beer and chips. Cuz if you're gonna be Scottish, you'd might as well go the whole distance.
6.Worgen: Dogs. Females might smell like a shampooed dog.

    Neutral:
    7. Pandaren: Beer, the inside of a Chinese restaurant, and manly kung fu sweat.

    Horde:
8.Orc: Manly fighting sweat and a faint smell of makeshift soap.
9.Tauren: A faint smell of fresh cut grass and groomed cow hair.
10.Undead: The fetid arse of a maggot-infested camel.
11.Troll: Bob Marley springs to mind...
12.Goblin: Rustic steel, gunpowder, and singed hair where their eyebrows used to be before the "accident"
13.Blood elf: Females would smell like lavender perfume. Males would smell like every single cologne you can find, choked alongside copious amounts of hair spray---Because They're Worth It.

Humans - sewage, due to their open sewage system in stormwind. Why they don't have Cholera is anyones guess.
Night elves - Bark and flowers
    Gnomes - Car exhaust
Dwarves - Beer breath and crisps
Draenei - New age shop smell with a hint of inscent
Worgen - Wet dog or musk

Pandas - Chinese inscent or earth from farming

Orcs - Body odor with a hint of charred metal
Tauren - Combination of wet fur and grass
    Forsaken - Rotting meat
Blood elves - perfumes or cinders depending on there use of magic
Trolls - Bad B.O and breath, with a scent of marijuana masking it
Goblins - Corrosive oil or factory chemicals

Nearly all races on azeroth would have halitosis due to there not being any dentists or tooth paste, so their teeth would be bad.

The Canals are not a sewage system. It's a Canal system. The water doesn't look filthy and probably isn't filthy considering there seems to be quite a lot of fishing around it.

It is also a coastal city so that is where the sewage would end up in.

Real life cities with canal systems Delft, Birmingham, Fort Lauderdale, Bruges, St. Petersburg, Amsterdam, Venice... I wonder why they haven't all died of cholera...

In all honestly, being realistic here, they all smell like manure, sweat. Well Worgen smell like dog that needs a bath and the Forsaken like rotten corpses.

All of them would smell like sweat and mold. When was the last time your character washed or changed his clothes?

I've never even seen a bar of soap in this game.

hmm... People did manage to keep their teeth nice without toothpaste or dentists once...
    Plenty of alternatives to toothpaste.

And Humans = sewage, nah have you ever been in a capital without it being coastal or having a river running through it?.

Off the top of my head i can mention 0 european capitals without a river running through them.

    Horde would smell terrible
    Goblins would smell like oil
Undead would smell like (what do you think, Decaying flesh!)
Orcs and trolls would smell like their shit
    Tauren would smell like cows
Blood elves would smell like insanely strong perfume/cologne and would mask out every other race's stench.

  20. #80
Why would orcs and trolls smell like shit?

I agree for the most part, but orcs and trolls would smell more like blood and sweat. They don't roll around in their own excrement. They pride themselves on being strong and working hard. Horde hater :-P
