" That doesn't necessarily mean that you're wrong, or that quality can't matter, but think of air forces: if one side has unbeatable high-tech aircraft that are all "hangar queens" while the other has more, reliable but less 'sexy' aircraft, then the high-tech side it can win every single air-to-air engagement, yet still find itself without air superiority a month into the war. (Off the top of my head, I've no idea what the current reliability or maintenance hours per flight hour for either NATO or Russia aircraft.) Better does not always translate to 'winner'.
