So, my question today is:
Maiev loved Illidan?

She was REALLY obsessed with him, I mean, she was freaking out about capturing/killing him.
Also, when Illidan says: "you are nothing without me", you can see pain(?) in her voice. She becomes...depressed.

So, she loved him? Or she's just crazy?

Also, we all know the thin line between love and hate!

Romantic obsession had nothing to do with it. If anything, it may have been because Illidan killed a night elf soldier Maiev may or may not have had romantic feelings for. She hated Illidan intensely.

Yeah it's not that she was in love with him she made her whole life about being his jailer and than capturing him again when he escaped obsessively so. When he was defeated during BC she was left with nothing and her life now had no more meaning.

Her duty in life was to guard Illidan's prison. She failed that and became obsessed with seeing him either recaptured or killed.

The point of her quote is that when he died she had achieved her one and only goal. She had nothing left. I thought that was obvious....

It's kinda like the Batman/Joker relationship.

The "Without me you are nothing" comment is moreso about her having nothing left once she reaches that goal. She's a dog chasing cars. She wouldn't know what to do with it if she caught it. It's about the chase, not the catch. She loved the chase, not Illidan.

The reason she sounds lost after Illidan's parting words is because she just finished the task she had spent thousands and thousands of years on. She had dedicated more time to this prisoner/target than most mortals can even realistically fathom.

You're reading too far into it. Not to make any overreaching assumptions here, but somehow I doubt this thread would have existed if Maiev had been a male character. I'm sure the gender compatibility is influencing the impression this time around.

When he died, he mocked her that now she lost all purpose in life, because her purpose was to hunt him, and the hunter is nothing without the prey. I don't think there is anything resembling love there, but what I could see is that she resurrects him and tries to manipulate him to take revenge on Malfurion.

I mean, I agree that this is being read way too far into; however, people do ship AnduinxWrathion, and KoltiraxThassarian. Honestly, a hypothetical situation involving a male Maiev might just be worse.

no, she was given a sacred task and failed at that task, so she became obsessed with "redemption" of bringing illidan to justice, in that time she became the "hunt" and now with out that goal / motivation she is left "empty"

Nothing romantic going on. The quote is clearly in reference to her no longer having a purpose now that her prey has been capture/killed. She was probably more obsessed with dealing with him because Tyrande betrayed and murdered her people to free him. The quote isn't crazy so much as it is accurate. She dedicated much of her life to jailing and capturing him, and lost a lot of people over it.
