It seems like WoD is really easy to run after all

Yesterday I installed WoD PTR , I wanted to look at class changes and experience the stats squish and have an idea of what kind of dps we will do on live 6.0. So after I did some test on the dummy, I joined a group to test Mythic SoO. As you can see in my Sig rig, I got a fairly high-end computer and a 1440p monitor. Currently on live, my FPS can drops in the mids 30s (ultra setting, minus shadow), especially on world boss and on pretty much any pull in 25M Heroic. So when we pulled Immersueus I wasnt expecting much, I tought it would be like on live but not.... my FPS didnt drops a single time below 60, even when he pulls out tha shit tons of adds. Im not sure what Blizz did, they talked about reducing other players visuall spell effects, but to me, it didnt feel much different, other people spells looked good too me. Anyway I am really happy to see that we will finally enjoy raiding a steady high FPS! Im just curious to know how it will affects people with lower end rig, I hope everybody will experience a nice FPS boost

My computer specs are significantly lower than yours I believe, and I saw a slight increase in fps, but then again I've never had much of an issue with fps in raids, so I wasn't paying close attention. Regardless, it felt smoother

I really hope it improves for me too.

I have a macbook pro computer, its not the best thing for gaming but I had no issue during cataclysm except sometimes in orgrimmar at peak times.

But since pandaria everywhere in that continent or during pvp/pve I get fps drops and my computer overheats. Its maybe a driver issue but on a mac we can't update it the same way it works on windows.Well either way I'm not returning to windows

My specs are lower than yours and I'm always at 60 fps. What else are you doing while raiding?
Check out my game, Craftsmith, on the Google Play Store!

yea right, I was expecting a reply like this, no offense but im pretty sure you are lying or you run a super low resolution. By the way I hope you understand I experience FPS drops exclusively in 25M Heroic raid and outdoor raid boss, which im pretty sure that EVERYBODY also have these kind of fps drops, especially with lower end rigs.

His running an SLI, with MMORPG's its a hit and miss thing in certain area's - can't be helped.

@OP to answer your question, I think it has a lot to do with the new file system they are using which allows them to do stuff a lot faster compared to the current MPQ's they have in place on live. I think it's fantastic what Blizz has managed to do with WoW this expansion, implementing that new file system, making the spell delay stuff a lot better (and it's already like world class in MMORPG's), technical wise WoD is bringing a lot of advantage in. Graphics wise I can't really say as I'm not in the beta but the game looks great from the screenshots I've seen - the biggest thing they can do for me personally is nail the weather effects (like night time) and I'll be insanely happy.

No I disable SLI for WoW.

Eh, it's still a hit and miss for high-end cards I find. I think the mid-range cards really do work the best with MMOs in *most* cases. Game optimisation is prioritized lower end over higher end.

True, agreed on this. I run a dual 7950s with i7-2600k @ 4.4GHz, recently changed it to 6-core Xeon, again OCed to 4.4GHz. I also had GTX 580 before I got the 7950s. Either way, I'm always getting 15-20 fps during raids at 1920x1080 Ultra, especially during the first 15 seconds of the pull.
So yeah, he is absolutely surely 100% lying. Or he plays on 1024x768 with lower details.

Sooo... It isn't just me that think this way. I always get to the conclusion that is impossible for the math to close. And I don't get what those people saying this kind of BS want to achieve.

Great... I was always bothered for the lack of people calling out this kind of crap. Good to see that finally there are people contesting "god-like low rigs".

I plan on moving next year for uni and I'll be left with just a macbook pro on which to run WoW, so boy do I hope the fps works better than it does currently on mine D:
I notice those random fps drops aswell when I'm on my macbook

Yup high end GPU are pretty much useless for MMO as you will ,most likely, be bottlenecked by your CPU anyway(only in raid and crowded situation) and even if you were not, a single 150-200$ card would easily run the game above 60fps. I got 780 SLi because I play other games you know

You should be fine if you have a dedicated GPU in that macbook pro ........ im not sure if all of them have one.

    ASRock Extreme3 - Sennheiser Momentums - Xonar DG - EVGA Supernova 650G - Corsair H80i

No. You could say that mid range cards have a narrower "fps spectrum" for lack of a better word. Both high and mid end cards are CPU bottlenecked in lowest FPS scenarios, but high end GPUs can push silly FPS numbers when CPU is sitting idle, like in leveling zones. So with a 760 you could see 40-100 fps and with a 780 Ti it'd be 40-200fps.

And how exactly are you going to see 100-200 fps if you have a 60Hz monitor?

sweet to here that there is a nice chance for performence improvments. I went to the PTR and I usally get 30 fps or something in shrine on low, went to PTR and everything was almost maxed out and had the same fps. I was happy that day

I've got pretty much the same specs as the OP and are playing mostly on "high" settings without shadows on live (I care more about preformance than pretty graphics tbh). Usually dip to ~30 fps on pulls in 25man heroics. On the beta I can play on ultra and even with shadow settings on and still have better FPS, really really like these changes. I will probably stay on high setting and no shadows as I feel more comfortable with that

they introduced (or rather re-introduced) darker nights(they still could be a bit darker tho, but its still improvement over crap we have on live now)! but at the price of new rendering that does not allow for any good anti-aliasing, and thats the thing i dislike.

and yeah fps improvement might have something to do with worse AA

LOL. I had a very similar build to yours for a very long time, and saw substantially higher FPS than you.
You're the one who is lying.

Well, I have a laptop with GTX 780m and i7-4700MQ and the fps is around 30 fps on lowest settings in the wilds even lower in cities, so don't know whats that all about
