I almost laughed. I don't understand. If you're uncomfortable with having a virtual brew in a playful atmosphere you should probably just vacate the scene. This game is rated T isn't it?

I think is so you can throw them at the Dark Iron invaders without blurring up your screen for the next 10 minutes.
Given that we don't get to actually taste a sample, be it with or sans alcohol, I'd imagine it's an obvious gag :P

take a joke. what's the big deal about alcohol-free drinks in a game?
Yeah and if you just arrive to do the daily, and then go on to do other things in-game how annoying is it to fly around with a blurry screen, distorted depth and your mount flying different directions?
I reckon it's purpose is exactly what I said.
It's not like the alcohol-free version is for people wanting to participate in the event while having a responsible drinking view on things, to complete the achievements you have get drunk a few times regardless.
You do not have to get drunk to get the meta. In any case I don't really care, I just thought it's kind of lame. I suppose the blurry screen issue makes 'some' sense.
If you're uncomfortable with it, maybe you should just vacate the scene.
I was wondering what happened to this. I couldn't figure out how to start throwing mugs since I only saw "alcohol free brewfest sampler". To me, getting totally smashed while fighting off the dark irons was part of the fun! They should've given you a choice of alcoholic and non alcoholic brews so that we could choose to get drunk during the event if we wanted to. I mean I guess you can use the synthebrew goggles, or just drink a lot and get yourself drunk as soon as it starts...but still, getting more and more drunk as you fight the dark irons was part of the charm.
There's more than one table of these things, just have one of each. I can understand some people not liking the screen blur (motion sickness is a real thing for some people)...that's why there should be a choice.

Fact (because I say so): TBC > Cata > Legion > ShaLa > MoP > DF > BfA > WoD = WotLK

Part of me thinks it might have been a degree of self-censorship, as the Drunken Stupor achievement got renamed to 'Almost Blind Luck' at some point.
It just seems rather silly to go to a beer festival and be given alcohol-free beer.

Especially as turning in the quest from the mole machine wreckage is still called "This One Time, When I Was Drunk..." and says:
I don't see why they couldn't have both types of sampler. So you managed to stop the Dark Irons... While drunk too? That, <class>, is truly the spirit of Brewfest! I guess in keeping with the spirit of Brewfest you want your prize tokens.
