Thumbs down "And they wonder why they're hated..."

The thread title is a comment made by the person filming this incident. From what I gather, the police are apparently (judging by what's being said in the video by the person taking it and by at least one of the police) arresting men for standing/walking on the street, which I don't understand at all to begin with, but when you look at the street in the neighborhood, one wonders where the hell people should walk.

What I find interesting is that this video has been uploaded by the Tallahassee Police, and the only reason I can think of for them wanting to do that would be to show the one woman being tasered, as if to say "look people, we don't always immediately gun you down dead, sometimes we use a taser" or something. But... They taser a woman for talking back to them, and for approaching them with grievances. I guess they felt - the what, 10 or so cops - that they were in danger by this clearly unarmed a bit older woman, while she was on her street, and still like a good 30 yards from the patrol cars. Oh, and obviously they arrest her too, after tasering her.

There's no gun violence in this video, and nobody dies. However, the dude filming does make an excellent point, and that's the thread title. Also, there's no racism? Read the Youtube comments. Sure, they're Youtube comments, but still.

Thanks to the Tallahassee Police for their transparency in how they treat black people in Tallahassee, I guess.

The police in America are currently as much of an issue as Isis in America. Just depends on which garbage can your eating from.

Man, what's with the police-hate this week? I swear, there's been ten "cops are bad!" threads in the last few days.

Well, Would love to see full view on this. What have they done before this and so on. Not just that "they were just walking". Sorry but if you have done something criminal before and are searched then all this is understandable.

Maybe because police brutality is an endemic issue?

Funny part is, most of those are trumped up charges as well, again by power-abusing police officers.

More and more incidents being videoed leads to more and more videos on sites like Youtube, which in turn leads to more and more threads being made. I doubt the incidents themselves are taking place any more often than they always have. It's just that people have started to record and upload them more. Also, it's not exactly "hate" to show what they're doing.

I agree, what the people who had been arrested did before the video began is a bit fuzzy, although you can hear the guys yelling they were on the street, and I think you can make out what the raging officer at the patrol car is saying which corroborates that. However, do you really think it's understandable that they taser that woman in the video? Seriously?

Wikipedia says 780,000 cops in America. If 1% make a major mistake in a year, that's 78,000 mistakes. Most of you have been in a car wreck at least once in your lives and car wrecks can get people killed. By the nature of a cop's job they can get people killed too.

And the youtube videos are news and exciting to look at.

Some people have an agenda and the 'police state' meme fits in with that agenda. They want you to fear the government so they promote anything that's negative about the police.

I'm surprised the police don't make more mistakes.

    ...Not an issue at all?

ISIS doesn't affect anything about America (other than being the last of a long line of excuses to expand the powers of the state). Police are regularly doing stupid bullshit that actually affects real people in America.

Does she own the street? why is it "HER" Street? I don't understand.

    - - - Updated - - -

Wait, why did you have to add "black people"? Why the "Black" part? You think these cops were racist? How would they have reacted to a white doing the same thing? why are you trying to make this about race?

    - - - Updated - - -

I just find it fucking hilarious, because I just saw "People" in that video, and yet, you had to add "BLACK" to it...

You don't understand? Oh, I'm sorry. I'm Finnish. I can't speak English properly. What I meant was, "the street she lives on", or "her home street", or something like that. Perhaps I should've used one of those expressions instead.

Hilarious would be anyone claiming this wasn't about race. Of course it's about race. It's blatantly obvious. How would they have reacted to a white person doing to same thing? Well, they wouldn't be out there, arresting white guys for walking on the street. They wouldn't have tasered a white woman the same way they did the black woman. Of course it all happened the way it did because the people are black. To deny this is just pointless. Do you really need factual statistics to be pulled to corroborate the fact black people are treated differently than white people? Do you really not see this being one of those cases of people being treated differently because of their skin color?

Are they racist because they treat black people different than white people? You tell me.

Not surprising in the least. This would be new and exciting if it occurred regularly 10+ years ago. Abuse of power is constantly caught on tape, just think of the many more times it is not. Won't be surprised to see riots as this continues over time.

Thank you for facilitating my point.

Police exaggeration is about as true as Isis exaggeration. Anyone can find a lot of footage of both. They are just used by the media to make you think some evil force is going to take over America.

So you know that? have you met those police? where the fuck do you get the right to just randomly accuse them of racism?

ITT: video taken out of context so europeans can bash americans /surpriseface.

the people simply "walking" in the streets were arrested because they were suspected of selling drugs. they happened to be arrested by the police while on that street. guy in the house knows nothing about the circumstances and immediately cries foul and OMG, they just innocent people walking the streets...

Officials have been corrupt since there have been officials. Shining light on a few is just going to open spots for new ones.

good luck fighting the good fight but I have accepted it as a part of reality.

Wait I'm not done with your ridiculously biased post yet: how do you know these police are treating anyone differently? I'd really like to know where you get this idea/ Were you there? Or were you in finland? You have literally no idea what you are talking about, and yet you make an extremely bold, extremely offensive claim that "Every single white cop is also a racist, period"
    You're a towel.

These are all the reasons why I stand by the belief that all law enforcement should be equipped with a camera and microphone whilst on duty. It means that the entire incident can be logged and called on in these cases.

He doesn't realize the media spins everything to turn it into a brutality and racist issue, regardless of lack of evidence. So everytime something pops up on YouTube, context and proof go out the window.

I mean I guess libel is fun and all, but guess what, its still a crime.

Just throwing out "THEY RACIST" because they are white cops and the people happen to be black? How the fuck does he know?
