could a rock song with religious lyrics be offensive?

I wrote a song. Pure AC DC style. Heavy riffs and stuff. The main character is Jesus Christ and he sings about his last temptation and execution in first person. It came to my mind that after all it could insult some catholic people. I could record a demo or something to be more concrete, and still I am concerned about the song context. Any thoughts?

Edit: added first verse and chorus

I didn't want to get in trouble
I didn't want to go away so young
    Nevertheless they found me guilty
For words of love and wisdom slipping off my tongue

    This is the end
    My last temptation
    One stab
    Body hits the ground

    Lend me your hand
    Seeking salvation
    My love
    Will never let you down

Give us an example of the lyrics, Catholic people don't own the rights to JC lol, so who cares, pretty much everything offends someone.

What was the last temptation? That thing about fasting for 40 days in the desert?

Eh doesn't seem like it'll be linked well to his crucifixion.

I say do what you want.

Most people stopped caring if pop songs had offensive lyrics some time in the mid-1970s.

AC/DC style song about Jesus? Oh, you dirty old carpenter! How many women you scored with your pick up story about crucifixion? If the point of that thread isn't bragging and the actual concern, there are genres which sole purpose is to offend certain people, like black metal. So if you want to be more mainstream successful then it might not work, tho, if it's really good at offending, it might attract interest, even if the music is quite shitty.

Religious threads are not allowed here, not sure why you would even want to share that, tbh.

No bragging at all. All remember the Pussy Riot story? I live in Russia so yes I am concerned!
"the last temptation" is there just for the rhyme, think ill re write it =)

"Religious threads are not allowed here". My sincere apologies. Waiting on admins decision.

Well... there IS a genre called Christian Rock which centers around religious lyrics.
And someone will always be offended. You can't please them all.

Then you're quite unaware about what kind of bands we have or what kind of foreign bands give concerts in Russia. So far that christian lunatics had somewhat success with not letting Behemoth finish the tour, but failed with promise to Slayer. Organizers prepared for it and there was a lot of police in case any of these idiots would have any funny ideas. Pussy Riot case was more about been not first offense and journalists been journalists.

P.S. I'm disappointed, you gotta do some insane mind gymnastics to find something offensive in that lyrics.

the question is, do you care if you offend them? if no, don't worry.

    Have you heard of Stryper?

    Everything is offensive.
    Nothing is offensive.

It's all in our heads (and a bit in the intention of the person who said it).

If someone tells me "F you mf, your mom is a whore", it can be an insult.
Or it can only be empty words that mean nothing.

If you are into alternative rock there is several Christian rock bands featuring religious lyric, that aside can't see why someone intelligent would be offended by it.

If you're afraid of offending someone then you shouldn't speak at all.

Some people will always be offended. As long as you're somewhat intelligent and aren't doing it on purpose, it'll never be bad enough to matter.

No one will care that you're singing about religion, as long as it's your religion.

I dunno, but Creed was pretty damn offensive to listen to.

On another note, if you're not offending someone with your rock music, you're doing it wrong.

I can see some posters on this forum raging over it.
