Any tips?
All I got was,
Set the power setting to optimize for max performance.
Disk Clean up.
Weekly auto defrag.
Shut down those worthless Metro tiles.
Turn off Windows Search - haven't done it yet.

Internet forums are more for circlejerking (patting each other on the back) than actual discussion (exchange and analysis of information and points of view). Took me long enough to realise ...
And how more FPS do you get? 0.5? Worth it.

and create a gigantic hassle of learning Linux, as to your link.
Intro: This is not to be taken seriously, but some might think it is. Do not be fooled. This is meant to be humorous in the spirit of funroll-loops. I will, however, be attempting to write the first couple parts as though it were serious (and, of course, as though I were not me). Mostly, the point of this post is for humor, but also to show some people what not to do and how to not do it (covered in the third and final part).
You can stop unnecessary processes from starting by typing services.msc in the run box on the start menu although I am not sure what benefit you will see from this on modern gaming hardware. Disk clean up and defraging will have little to no impact on your performance. If you have not already I would suggest investing an SSD.
