Why are they playing fire on single target fights? Also, I dont see any of the tier 1 talents being used.... Ever. Also their ignite ticks seems a bit low for their ilvl.

I started a new thread without seeing this sticky - I've had a couple of inputs but if I can get some more advice/tips, that'll definitely help

I've switched to Arcane from Frost since BRF came out - at that point, I had a lot of multistrike gear but figured better to learn the spec sooner than later.

However, my dps as Arcane hasn't improved a lot even after getting a lot of mastery gear - I've gone into the logs and addressed a few issues like crystal usage and better mana levels during conserve phase. At this point, I need some help to improve my dps. I've linked tonight's logs below -

My sim dps for a light movement fight with Good player skill with 200ms latency (I play with around 280-300ms latency) is around 32.4k dps. On Gruul, which should be (?) less hectic than that sim, I pulled only 26.2k (normal) and 25.8k (heroic). Even dissecting this fight would help so I can take the learnings into other fights.

Edit: Is there any way to delay the ring proc? It always procs on the pull and by the time 4 AB casts are done, there is only like 2-3s left on it.

Hey guys i am really struggling at the moment with arcane/fire in Highmaul Heroic/Mythic.


I am never top DPS except for say Gruul on the rest of the fights i am usually around bottom 4-5 tied with the other mage. We are both not performing and it's making the game just not fun.

I dunno what it is i tried to read everything here.. watch videos.. obviously i am not getting it - i will provide logs at some point possible tomorrow but just as a guide what are the accepted specs to be running for each fight? I have tried ot research this and it seems insanely contested outside of Arcane for Gruul/Kro/Ogg...

I've had my mage as an alt for ages but have decided I'd like to gear him up, so I can improove I'd like some advice on my gear and my rotation, I logged a HC butcher kill as that is one of the fights arcane does best on and I was able to concentrate more on my rotation and less on the fight, here is my log and armory:

my ilvl is 652 so still low, I have the cheap enchants as I plan to get better gear in the next few weeks but other than that do you guys have any advice or tips on my rotation or gear? (be nice i'm still very new to mages!!!)

Hello Everyone, I am drastically underperforming for my item level. I will attach some logs below, but i am really struggling to find the basic problem. I can do 27k or so on Kargath, but it is my understanding that I am not just a little short on most fights, i'm 7-10k dps lower than i should be. This would seem to indicate that there is a very large problem in my play.
My basic Arcane rotation is:
Start of the fight" Prepot, PoM, AB till 4 stacks of charge, drop Prism, pop AP, hit supernova x2, then AB till 50%
NExt: ABx4, use remaining AM procs, use Sepernova on CD unless i need to save it for Koragh adds or some such.
Evo when up, burn down, pop CD's as they come up, rinse repeat.

I do not always follow this perfectly, but i do not feel like i am messing it up to the point where i would lose multiple thousands of DPS.
Logs below, There are a few fights where I go fire, im not quite as concerned about that as I am about arcane; but feel free to comment, I look forward to all feedback.

Hey there, I guess I must be blind as I could have sworn I saw the answer on here previously but cannot any more. Apologies for what I assume will sound like a broken record.

Tier gear. What kind of ilvl drop is acceptable? I'm hoping that either this week or next week I'm going to start picking up a few bits and my lootmaster knows how mages benefit insanely from it. Currently playing Arcane but I do play fire for the appropriate fights. Here's my armory to compare. I was thinking that as long as I'm not doing a mythic -> normal swap then it's worth it. Definitely for a 5 ilvl drop and a 10, the 15 drop maybe only if it completes my 4 set

I don't have the time right now to go through these in more detail but it looks to me like you're wasting a LOT of missiles procs and you're using Barrage a hell of a lot and I don't quite understand why. Your missiles damage is consistently very low and your barrage very high. The amount of casts of missiles you're getting compared to how many buffs of it you achieve is in the 60-70% region so that's really low, I noticed one which was like 130 out of 180. Here's what I was using for comparison:

I've been getting about 29K on gruul as arcane, but that drops significantly on the other fights in BRF. Most of what I see is that my cooldown usage is terrible; I often have to move/interuppt/delay a burn phase based upon fight mechanics, and am unsure how to combat this. Is it better to delay a burn phase for when I know it will be mostly interrupted, even if it's a 10-15 second delay?
Would also love to see if there are any holes in my rotation itself.

Hello Helpers!

Im struggeling a lot going from my Frost mage in Highmaul, with great dps and progress. But now im being forced in to playing this Arcane specc, which i can say i really really suck at. This makes frustrated because i dont have that certainty with my damage output that i had in Frost, so i cant help others or even not make stupid mistakes myself.

Mainly its because i dont get how you max your arcanespecc, which i hope i can get corrected with some pro help.

I simcraft my single target Arcane damage to: 38,6k damage, so i should be able to kick some ass.
But i cant even get my dps above 28k or up to 32k if it goes well on the heroic blackhand fight, this i really really frustrating.
