New job, vaccinations...

I have been unemployed for roughly 2 years (lost my last job around then) due to very difficult life circumstances at the time. Took a long break from everything and I've started looking for work again over the last couple months..I finally landed a 40 hour full-time job as a medical receptionist. I accepted the offer yesterday..but now it just sunk in that when I go in for the drug test/paperwork I'm going to be forced to take about 6 vaccinations in order to remain hireable. I'm not making this thread to debate the validity or safety of vaccines..I am just simply one of those people who is totally and utterly against them and it's against everything I stand for. I have to do this tomorrow and I'm having a full-blown panic attack, I don't know what to do. A bit scared I'm going to go in and when they pull out the needles I'm going to say no...or even worse, I'm going to accept the vaccines just because I got offered employment in scary economic times.

If you don't want the vaccinations, or they are against your beliefs, do not take them. If you need to weigh your job versus your beliefs, then you need to wrestle with yourself and your beliefs and come to the conclusion that best serves your needs.

They're not for his/her safety. They're for everyone else's safety. If you work in a medical field, you have to have your vaccines because the people coming in may have weak immune systems, which prevents them from getting them. Same thing as the flu shot -- herd immunity.

If you don't want to be part of the herd immunity, you don't deserve to work somewhere that it's needed.

I'm guessing you're getting a flu shot and some of the more optional vaccines? As a medical receptionist, you'll be around children, pregnant women, the elderly & people with weakened immune systems, so you're more getting vaccinated for their safety, remember, while it just annoys you, the flu can kill old people.

My mothers job told her that everyone in the building must get a flu vaccine by Nov. 1 or they'll have to wear a mask until May 31 (I believe that is the end day). She works with a lot of elderly, so I can understand it.
But having to get 6 vaccinations? Is that because you never got the MMR or ANY vaccinations when you were younger?
