    What happened to Elitist Jerks?

Just came back after a 1.5 year break and it seems like EJ is completely dead. Where is everyone going now to get theorycrafting information now?

Icy-veins is where it's at now, as far as I know.

A lot of people use these forums, also there are many class specific blogs run by top theorycrafters out there, What class are you looking for info on? We could possibly point you to some.

I know especially the rogue forums on EJ feels completely dead. Its like the same 10 jerks responding to posts.

edit : woops i was actually reffering to Arena Junkies. I feel like theres no solid website anymore that discusses rogue pvp.

For some reason I considered Elitist Jerk a rogue dominated forum back in the day, just saw a post of the creator of Shadowcraft saying a goodbye as well on EJ forums. It is of course sad when passionate and talented theorycrafters are no longer there, but oh well. Everything has its end...

The site was probably moderated to death. You'd have people who were decent contributors get banned because they signed their posts or some stupid shit like that. That's what happens when you put nerds in a position of power.

It died with the launch of MoP. Many classes didn't get any guides for ages, so ppl stopped using the site.

MMO-champ and Icy veins have decent basic guides for all classes (with some classes having proper advanced ones). Then ofc there are class specific theorycrafting communites and sites, for example howtopriest.com for Priests.
They're (short for They are) describes a group of people. "They're/They are a nice bunch of guys." Their indicates that something belongs/is related to a group of people. "Their car was all out of fuel." There refers to a location. "Let's set up camp over there." There is also no such thing as "could/should OF". The correct way is: Could/should'VE, or could/should HAVE.

You'll find here almost everyone who used to post theorycraft there.

Ravenholdt seems to be the new place, I've been following it pretty closely lately in regards to WoD. From what I gather, a lot of the top raiding rogues came together to form this site.

On the rogue forums it's a combination of old hands laying in the oars, and there being less things to discuss. Especially during long patch cycles like the one we've been in during SoO there's really not much of value to be said. Guess we'll see if someone takes over for Pathal.

The high signal to noise ratio was the reason why people could reasonably discuss stuff without reading through a flood of "tell me how to gear and play my rogue" questions being repeated over and over. The people who kept breaking the forum rules pretty much never contributed anything meaningful. Like it or not, the group of people who do heavy lifting in terms of theorycrafting is largely a subgroup of the people who can write proper english.

Oh, and the moderation isn't the same anymore, since the site changed hands.

Like Raic says, www.ravenholdt.net is a new site for Rogues where you'll find top theorycrafting players.

EJ was generally the strongest site for years, and still has merit. However, I've seen some pretty strange moderation over there. I would honestly state that I never actually knew if any post would be moderated or not- the rules were so strict that technically ANY post could be nuked. Ask for clarification, that could be moderated as something too obvious. Talk about ramifications of a change, it could be moderated as off topic. My one moderated post was some math post and I never understood why.

Anyway, I will check out ravenholdt, but I actually doubt EJ is really down for the count. That being said- I dunno how serious I plan to play WoD, the expac looks just a mile of depressing and the new nelf model is such an emotional bane that I'm just confused. I just look at all my cool buttons that are gone and I'm like "do they... come back?" And I know that they do not.

    LOL :-)

On a serious note, most of the general info can indeed be found here om mmo-champion. I find that http://www.ravenholdt.net/ is good for some more in-depth analysis.

Otherwise, some of the various Rogue-blogsites are good as well. I.e. http://roguechat.wordpress.com/

The old 'champions of theorycrafting' in the Rogue community on Elitist-Jerks are not active any longer to my knowledge

Does that mean EJ and Shadowcraft Excel sheets are no longer a thing?

I've known Icy-Veins and Noxxic have been... Less than appealing for some time.

Arena Junkies I think is still a -Updated- resource, is it not?

Most of my old-school resources where at ManaFlask for the longest timer, but since Ensidia has stopped raiding their website is pretty empty anymore other than some streamed-streams, Refuge Forums are not updated very often, (Or at all in some cases.)...

Ravenholdt I may take a look at here shortly to see what they are about.

SimCraft I haven't been liking lately. Not sure why, but something seems... Off.

Rawr.exe hasn't been updated in forever either.

    - - - Updated - - -

Another site that was very well alive during the beta, but has since stop updated frequently was Sentry Totem... A little sad, really. They did a lot blog and website work to get where they are at now...

Best place to find PvE information about rogues tbh.

If you don't remember Akrios at roguerogue.com or Zaltu at oneroguesjourney.com, or never downloaded a spreadsheet made by Aldriana, you haven't been playing rogue long enough.

THIS is actually the best forum for rogues at the moment. EJ died a slow death because the guild is no longer relevant - hence no need to go to their forums, IDK why Method or Paragon don't try to replicate since they have so much recognition. Ravenholdt moves too slow for my liking, always find the most up-to-date "wtf is going on" shit here first.

Although its a bit of an old thread, I'd probably say this rings true about almost every class subforum on mmo champion. Heck, Warriors even has their top players/theorycrafters posting often last I checked. Same for other classes probably, just can't think of them off the top of my head, paladin has a few in the prot thread I know,
