Climate change PROVED to be 'nothing but a lie', claims top meteorologist.

The debate about climate change is finished - because it has been categorically proved NOT to exist, one of the world's leading meteorologists has claimed.

John Coleman, who co-founded the Weather Channel, shocked academics by insisting the theory of man-made climate change was no longer scientifically credible.

Instead, what 'little evidence' there is for rising global temperatures points to a 'natural phenomenon' within a developing eco-system.

In an open letter attacking the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, he wrote: "The ocean is not rising significantly.

"The polar ice is increasing, not melting away. Polar Bears are increasing in number.

"Heat waves have actually diminished, not increased. There is not an uptick in the number or strength of storms (in fact storms are diminishing).

"I have studied this topic seriously for years. It has become a political and environment agenda item, but the science is not valid."

Mr Coleman said he based many of his views on the findings of the NIPCC, a non-governmental international body of scientists aimed at offering an 'independent second opinion of the evidence reviewed by the IPCC.'

He added: "There is no significant man-made global warming at this time, there has been none in the past and there is no reason to fear any in the future.

"Efforts to prove the theory that carbon dioxide is a significant greenhouse gas and pollutant causing significant warming or weather effects have failed.

"There has been no warming over 18 years."

Ok MMOC disagree and tell me why the scientists not being paid by government agencies are agreeing global warming/climate change is a natural thing and we are not contributing to it. http://www.express.co.uk/news/nature...hannel-founder

In before the incoming shitstorm of backlash.

That said, I'm always going to be skeptical of the data provided by scientists when their funding money comes directly from inducing the fear that 'if we don't do something now the world will end! Give me another XX million dollars so I can study this further.'

Doesn't change the fact that carbon fuels will eventually run out and renewable energy is still the smarter direction to go in.

I think the earth goes through cycles that would happen regardless of what we do.

I admittedly didn't really read the article. I simply looked to see what proof was given for it. Which is none. No graphs, no references, no nothing.

I counter this article with this video.

I can get behind this to a certain degree.

Title says "Climate change is a lie".
Conclusion says "Climate change is a natural thing".

    I am confused.

You realize he presented no evidence to contradict human impact on climate change. He merely presented his opinion in a disingenuous way, as if it were factual.

So really, he's just blowing hot air.

I'm sorry you didn't see any pretty pictures. No pretty pictures means no proof gotcha.

Meh, I'll be long dead before this actually happens. I'll file it under 'Not my problem.'

I'll continue to take my advice on the subject from well respected meteorologist's instead of washed up journalists.

My personal fav from wikipedia on John Coleman

"Critics of Coleman’s have questioned his lack of academic credentials, journalism degree, and charge that he has not conducted actual research in the area of climate change."

What? Why do you think "proof" means "pretty pictures?" Talk about utterly fallacious.

Your position has no evidence, and the fact that you hold to your position says a lot about you.

Climate Change is about as old as climate in general. How much we really influence it is up for debate. I'm honestly much more worried about pollution, running out of non renewable energies, mass extinction of species and so on and on which hardly get any kind of media coverage. Especially pollution becomes a bigger and bigger problem affecting most of us even in our daily lifes.

A lot of these problems could even be solved or at least "changed for the better" easily but nothing is done. It's kinda pathethic.

The problem kinda is, the hockey stick doesn't have much going for it either. We had several "scandals" showing that people directly relying on this were falsifying their data to secure funding, people who broke out/spoke out where silenced/discredited. What we have at the moment are constantly new theories on why it didn't evolve even remotely close to what was predicted, I've seen jet streams, the ocean as heat sink and a lot of other explanations come up most which are at best theories and at worst wild guesses.

So while we need more research into that direction to find out what is actually going on, we really should get onto fixing those problems we actually can and there are plenty of those. That being said, a lot of reports are "sensationalistic" and brushed up by the media for impact. This on long term leads to people losing interest since much of it doesn't become apparent right away or doesn't turn out quite as "BOOM"tastic as the media tried to make them think it would.

Yes that's actually exactly what it means, lol. You can't just make claims and say "I'm a higher-up! Listen to me I'm right!" To have a credible and intelligent discussion, I need proof and references. That's how it works. That's how it works for anyone in a scientific field.

No proof of anything within the article. No link to a peer reviewed study. Nothing. You're taking the opinion of some random weather forecaster and using at as fact because "hue hue the liberals are wrong because of this guy".
