    Gameboy advance etc

Being a bit bored and having quite a bit of downtime at work is a Gameboy advance worth bothering with nowadays? can pick them up off ebay for a tenner/twenty quid and I've never had a handheld before.
If so any must have games that I can mess about on? And do you save games like you do on consoles?

    I approve of this message.

Also, there is Advance Wars for an awesome turn based strategy game.

Unless you absolutely want to play GB and GBC games on it, I would rather go with a DS Lite which can play both GBA and DS games.

Make sure you get the SP version if so, there's PC emulators but if you desperately need one ( id assume this is the case since work downtime ) get the SP version, this is because it uses rechargeable batteries akin to a phone as well as having a backlight. There's 2 versions here as well, the AGS-001 and the AGS-101.

001 is the original version and 101 is an improved one that was released a couple of years later with improved backlight.

Should probably replace the battery in mine, had it for over 10 years now and it do not last even 2 seconds despite charging.
If you like megaman id recommend you to pick up battle network 3 for it, had the blue version personally.

Here's a list of games which just came to my head:
    -Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
-Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age
-Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
    -Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga
    -Metroid: Fusion
    -Fire Emblem

The other games that were listed are also pretty good. There were way too many good GBA games.

Pokemon isn't cheap! If it is, they're fake.

Pokemon games didn't devalue much. So it can be quite expensive picking them all up.

The amount of fake pokemon cartridges out there is crazy.

    o.O

I still have the cartridges from pokemon games bought from real retailers years back, are you saying they are worth something? Is this in perfect condition unopened? Their legit due to having the Nintendo logo engraved on them, the model number agb-002, seals in correct places and everything.

    Zelda - Minish Cap
Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga (Best game imo, funny as fuck)
    Mario Kart
And if you never played Yoshi's Island on the SNES, get it for your GBA, one of the best Mario platformers.

+1 for Golden Sun & Golden Sun: The Lost Age.

Decent (although fairly typical) fantasy story, but the characters and setting are kind of interesting. The character progression and battle systems make it though; HUGE variety of specials, spells, summons etc and a fairly good customisable class system that lets you build each character to suit your playstyle.

I still have two SPs, because my friend and I sometimes break out FF Crystal Chronicles on Game Cube :-) I sometimes play old advance games on it, too. Just really hard to hold with my much bigger hands!

There are quite a few games for GBA worth picking up. Besides the Golden Sun games, there are ports of the first two Breath of Fire games as well. Don't forget there are quite a few great GBC games to pick up as well that you could play on a GBA or an SP.

Golden Sun was already mentioned, I'll add Shining Soul I and II (those are basically Diablo in Shining format) and Prince of Persia Sands of Time (2D platformer).

I wouldn't look towards various ports to GBA, original versions were superior imo.
