Denmark Burger King worker makes $20 an hour

I wonder how much a basic burget at Burger King in Denmark costs? No cheese, single patty. It's less than a $1 here. I don't think I would go to Burger King if it wasn't cheap.

COPENHAGEN — On a recent afternoon, Hampus Elofsson ended his 40-hour workweek at a Burger King and prepared for a movie and beer with friends. He had paid his rent and all his bills, stashed away some savings, yet still had money for nights out.

That is because he earns the equivalent of $20 an hour — the base wage for fast-food workers throughout Denmark and two and a half times what many fast-food workers earn in the United States.

“You can make a decent living here working in fast food,” said Mr. Elofsson, 24. “You don’t have to struggle to get by.”

It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shakes, the shakes become a warning.

There's nothing better to talk about when sexuality and religion get you banned.

Doesn't prevent him from living and working in Denmark.

Considering how easy it is to travel to Denmark from Sweden.

Well if it's true and he's able to pay all of his bills, let alone have money left over, I'd say that doesn't matter much since he still has far more money than someone working the same job here.

Yeah but I get they have real social services to show for those taxes and going to the doctor doesn't cause bankrupcy.

what are we suppose to be discussing here?

good for him, and good for Denmark, can pay a living wage at even the lowest jobs.

Yea, that's... Not a danish name.

That said, as far as I'm aware, they've got some sort of campaign going right now where an ordinary cheeseburger costs 1.71 dollars. Which means outside of sales, you can expect a cheeseburger to cost 2.5-3 dollars.

The tax percentage is high aswell as the cost of living so the wage needs to be high aswell.

And I think a basic burger is somewhere around $2-$3

I guess it's a response to those who scream "GET A PHD!!!" whenever workers here protest demanding a living wage.

Some things seem popular and get a lot of posts, other things not so much, they just fall off the front page in a minute or two.
