    Best GTX 970?

    Hey everyone,

I'm looking to finally replace my computer on Black Friday, so I'm investigating all of the different parts. One of the parts I am interested in is the GTX 970. There are quite a few different brands regarding this, and it looks like each of them have different cooling systems. One of the cards that keeps popping up is this ACX 2.0, but also the Gigabyte G1. However, in some of the upgrade threads, I see other cards as well such as MSI, etc.

I was wondering peoples' thoughts on this. If I'm buying a new card, should I be looking for the EVGA ACX 2.0 (and skip the ACX 1.0), the Gigabyte G1, or perhaps a different brand? Or is it a case of feel free to buy whatever one you'd like.

    Thanks,
    Pejo.

ASUS GTX Strix 970. I don`t care about all this fancy stock OC cards. Most important ASUS deliver premium components and for my experience their product never fail. I`m not mentioning about quiet cooler etc.

I have the MSI and so far it's been great and I hear as above poster stated the Asus is also very good. I would steer clear of the EVGA I've heard the cooler is extremely loud.

I bought the gigabyte g1 last week and soon as I put it in I overclocked it by about 20% give or take and its been smooth since.
    So +1 for the G1

But for some reason I cant get GeForce experience to open no matter what I try and as its my first NVidia card I have no idea what it does.

Basically it's your shadowplay that's all you would use it for.

The MSI variants have always been among the best; excellent passive/active cooling with dust removal, great OC capabilities and very stable. The Asus variants have usually been comparable but have shown to be less stable in previous releases.

I had failed ASUS MBs and GPUs, so that's not really helpful.

+1 for Gigabyte G1, i have ordered it 4 weeks ago, still nothing.

Gigabyte G1 pulls the best numbers, only just edging out the MSI gaming and Asus strix. In that order.

That being said I'd still recommend any of those 3.

There seems/seemed to be some issues with the fans on the 970/980. Where one fan would not operate or something like that. And chance on coilwhine seemed to be higher on the MSI as well.

I would probably go for either the Asus or Gigabyte. With a slight preference for the Gigabyte, guess it depends on the pricing of both cards.

Every next card I will buy will be Gigabyte, just cuz they have better service support in my country, in case something goes wrong, but I think it is a fact that Asus components are top notch, in terms of GPU's and motherboards.
And yeah, Gigabyte seems to perform the best this time, and IMO, it looks way better than the other two, it comes with a backplate, and the Windforce logo has a nice white glow to it.

Been using that palit one for about a month and have had no problems with it, not had to overclock it yet either, any game I throw at it set to max settings and getting smooth frame rate at 1080p

I ended up buying an ASUS STRIX model, and have not regretted it. Initially I leaned toward the Gigabyte G1 version, but that card would barely have fit in my case, and it had no passive 0db cooling feature. So in the end, if performance is all you care about, the Gigabyte G1 is a tiny bit better and it overclocks better, but if you have problems fitting it into your case (312mm vs Asus's 280mm), or want the passive cooling under 65C then go with ASUS.

Also, coil whine seems to be an issue for many of the gtx 970s, but luckily I have not experienced any with my particular card.

And Luckily, in the EU they are able to keep up with the demand and they haven't run out of stock

This. Metal shroud and backplate, great cooling system and just as OCable as the rest. you pay a little more for them but the build quality is second to none.

I don't care about UK supply. He said EU, and Czech is in EU, and it lacks them.
