Recommended Full ATX Computer Cases with High Airflow?

    Hey everyone,

I've fallen quite behind when it comes to the many different computer cases. I've seen a few reviews for cases sub $80, but I'd love to hear what recommendations people had in that bracket and beyond.

Last time I looked at cases, the HAF X just came out. Is that case still one of the most recommended? I understand part of it is subjective, due to part of it being aesthetics; however, I am interested in it from a function perspective. Cases with good airflow, good room for large CPU heatsink (primarily Noctua DH12), good cable management and toolless. Do cases in the $200 range offer better functality of the above things over something like the HAF X?

    Thanks,
    Pejo.

You know airflow on full tower cases is overrated right? Fans do most of the job not the case itself alone and 90% of the cases out there will do the job just fine. What you wanna look is for air filters, fan controllers if needed etc. Haf X was the go to 4years ago, had it on my 2500k build, was awesome at its time. Now compared to newer cases, it seems to make noise and had 0 dust filters, just mesh. So i wouldn't reckon it. You don't need a full tower, an atx mid tower does the job fine. I run overclocked machine on micro build and airflow is awesome. 200bucks is even alot for what you need. If you are not going for custom water cooling then you got tons of options.

    To name a few:
    - Fractal Design R4, midi R2, XL arc
    - Phanteks Entho Pro or Luxe
    - Corsair 500R, 450D, 550D, 780T

I came here to post the same case! It's the one I have, and I LOVE everything about it. If you're willing to spend a bit more, it is totally worth it. The airflow is insane, and it has a ton of fans.

I currently have two ( 2 ) housing each of my builds. I have had 3 cases over the last few years. From personal experience, these are awesome towers. Though, big, if you don't need the space.

Can't say there is much of anything that would be considering too big for this case while keeping the case it a medium size rather just overly huge. My last case was a full tower and personally it just sat too high. Didn't even want it on my desk.

Going to have to say HAF 935 Stacker.
This is a behemoth of a case, fantastic cable management options and so much space inside there is room for a whole family of illegal immigrants to live in.

Yes, That IS a 2liter bottle of Pepsi INSIDE the case for scale purposes.

only issue I have with it is that if you want to mount the hard drives in the optional top or bottom stacker case then you are going to need to get longer sata cables.
Easily the best case I have bought, and it is one I can see me using for the next few years.

Airflow is just as important on full tower cases (if not more important) as it is on more compact systems. Full tower cases hold a significantly higher volume of air than smaller cases, air that needs to be displaced in order to keep the ambient temperature inside the case as low as possible. In a Micro/Mini case, the interior volume is so low that most could get away with a single exhaust fan on the rear, whereas larger roomy cases will require at least one intake and exhaust fan in order to direct cooler air into the case and expel warmer air through the back.
While we're on the subject, another thing that bugs me is the whole "cable management for good airflow" argument.
No. Cable management is almost purely for aesthetic reasons. You would have to have the inside of your case absolutely jammed with cables before they began to obstruct airflow to any measurable degree. A few ATX and SATA cables running around the inside of your case instead of neatly routed around the rear/edges is not going to affect your temperatures at all.
That's not to say you shouldn't have good cable management. It looks nice, and it makes access to the inside of your PC far easier. But from a performance standpoint it offers zero benefit. Especially since we're not using ribbon cables anymore.
