How Did African American Segregation Last So Long?

I can't believe that african american segrigation lasted until less than 50 years ago in the united states.

Why did it last so long? Where did this Aryannistic mindset come from? Didn't we already learn how bad slavery hurt people? And didn't WW2 teach us how bad oppressing someone could really get, you'd think we'd want to be the better man

I should really specify community supported violence towards blacks, and segregation

Yep, racism against Africans (and Carribbeans) is still very much present in Europe too, sadly

The left needed to keep the narrative of epidemic racism alive or at least the perception of it they needed to do so to further their meme of victimhood all for a political purpose, for votes

not saying racism doesn't exist it always will but it is no were as predominate as the left wants us all to believe

Because they're black... that's basically it. Irish people were slaves, in the Americas too, they were abused and killed and slave owners would force them to have sex with blacks to make mixed children that would fetch a higher price. Which eventually became illegal because of how "unfair" the money was.

Anyway they blended in once slavery was over. There was plenty of white on white racism during the early times late 1800s early 1900s with pseudoscience being used to say "these white people are scum but these white people are good" in the end they were all white and that discrimination went away. Blacks didn't have that luxury.

50 years ago black people were being lynched by racist whites because of leftist narrative of racism? Are you even reading?

How is that so shocking? Segregation was, and in some parts, still is, a worldwide phenomenon. Hell, Apartheid went all the way to the 90s.

Segregation, if you isolate a people or they choose to isolate themselves then they will be viewed as outsiders, typically all outsiders are thought of as inferior as it is not good for the community to admit that others are better than you.

Is that why someone with a black sounding name is 50% less likely to get a callback from a job application than someone with an identical resume and a white sounding name? Is that why blacks face substantially larger prison sentences for identical crimes? Is that why despite whites and blacks using drugs at about the same rates, blacks are numerous times more likely to go to prison for drug crimes?

And South-Africa went back to ground zero with the death of it.

why do "privleged" people feel the need to do this? What is the benefit of it?

The difference from south Africa to America is that the Afro-Americans still haven't gotten over with that their parents grandparent were slaves and keep blaming it on the current generation.

It's not privileged people, it's people. Segregation is human nature. Look at high school lunch rooms. No one tells whites to sit with whites and blacks to sit with blacks, and it's not because they're racist, it's just nature. Integration and acceptance of different kinds of people and ideas is a learned behavior, not an inherent one.

That's very different from institutionalized segregation in a civilized democracy. Denying people equal rights is always wrong, no matter their race.

I guess we all forgot that mostly happened in the South where Democrats lived.

We still see just how shitty Democratic controlled places are such as Chicago, Washington D.C

I'm not sure what either of those has to do with violence toward blacks or segregation.

People keep saying this like this disregarding the fact that many black grandparents and parents were in the era when blacks were 2nd class citizens. Which does have an affect, but let's pretend jim crow was never a thing.

People argue about this saying "slavery slavery black people get over slavery black people only think this way because slavery" what about the jim crow era? What about the racism that was prevalent in this country through to the 80s? Does that not matter because "slavery" ended in the late 1800s? what do you think blacks went from slaves to equal?

Because of racism, most other nations after they freed their slaves gave them reperations and equal rights right away, while instead we imposed jim crow segregation, criminalized black culture, and did lynchings.

Strange that OP would pick on the US, racism is everywhere. Hardly any blacks in Mexico but against dark skin Mexicans and native Americans there is a lot of racism. Countries with little diversity are often the most racist because they never have learned to deal with the issue.

It's never going to be perfect but the US has come a long way even compared to 10 years ago.
