Overwatch tv series?

blizzard has put a shit ton of thought into the story of this game despite the game itself having zero singleplayer or story content.

theyve said the storyline of the game will be explored in "other mediums"

now i dont know about you but looking at these characters i can tell right away they could make alot of fucking money if they market this stuff to kids.

what kid WOULDNT want a talking cyborg gorilla who wears glasses as an action figure?



and what kid WOULDNT wanna make him fight this big dummy over here? (and win because winstons the man)



imagine a ben 10 esque show for kids (not necessarily art style but in feel)



imagine that but instead of aliens its all the different characters, kids love this shit and they would eat it up. they could make a killing off this stuff, theyre sitting on a gold mine here with these characters.

its such a diverse colourful unique cast, each kid could have their favorite, it could appeal to everybody.

I would rather have a single player story mode. I have a feeling that Blizzard would make that better then a TV-show.

not that it couldnt appeal to adults as well but kids buy the most toys and these characters have HUGE action figure potiential

As far as the "shit ton of thought into the story," do you have a link to the info, I'd be interested to read. All I saw was "60 years in the future" and "rabid robots" which seemed to be anything but a well thought out story. If there's more, I'd love to check it out if anyone has links.

My main interest is the team play, and in that regard it looks absolutely great!

I'd love to see an Overwatch tv-show, but I'm guessing the main medium will be comics. But who knows, right?

But I agree that the thing I'd want the most is a single-player campaign of some sort. Just something within the actual game that told me it's own story.

every character has a backstory on the main page, theres definitely good guys and bad guys and an overarching storyline that isnt being shown ingame

I would love a TV Show, but I'd take a single campaign over that any day... Though from what we heard on the panel, they are keeping story out of the gameplay and likely releasing any lore with cinematics like we saw at the reveal. Either would make me very happy!

It certainly has a great visual style. I was thinking comics, but a TV series could be nice.

I don't know where they're ultimately going to end up in terms of tone, though. It's very bright and colorful and cartoony, but some of the subject matter is fairly mature (terrorists, assassins) and the game itself has blood squib effects and ragdoll physics when characters are killed, and there's some mild profanity as well (hell, damn).

If it was aimed at more of an Avatar or Clone Wars demographic, with more adult appeal, I think that could be solid.

I can see Overwatch being a cartoon, yeah. Some mix of X-Men and League of Justice. (I guess that the kid and teenager from a trailer would [or actually WILL] be main characters. Especially the teenager.)

I hope it will be an anime-like series. I can really imagine it like an Avengers or Batman series but with Blizzard-style animations, story and EPICNESS. BIG YES TO SERIES, because they last LONGER.

When I first thought the Overwatch trailer my thought was "AMG Blizzard is now doing a TV Show and I like it!"

Would not surprise me at all to see Blizzard go into tv series or movies for Overwatch. I definitely got a good feeling from watching the intro video and imagining more of that.
