Goblins vs Gnomes card index thread

This is an index for all the Goblins and Gnomes expansion cards. Actual card pictures won’t be displayed because having 130+ card pictures would be nuts (and bolts.) If you have constructive criticism of the layout and such to improve it, go ahead and post about it and I'll see what I can do to make this thread better.

The page I'm basing all this information on is http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards?displ...r-unreleased=1. I'm compiling it here so there's another resource.

    Contents:

    1. Neutral collectible cards by rarity then alphabetical
    2. Class collectible cards by rarity then alphabetical
    3. Uncollectible cards by alphabetical (and possibly class if need be)
    4. Collectible and Uncollectible cards before GVG that are becoming Mech

A lot of people are saying this guy is bad and that he should be 7 mana. But he's already got 7 mana worth of stats, and he's paying very little for a pretty powerful effect. Maybe a 7 mana 6/7 would be better but this guy is still pretty powerful, especially in Arena.

Think it's mostly because Foe Reaper is slow and sorta niche. The ability on the card is brilliant vs aggro right? But it's a turn 8 so it's too slow to actually be any good vs aggro. So then you look at the mid range and control match ups where the ability doesn't do all that much at which point it's an expensive Boulderfist Ogre. Considering how competitive the 8 slot is I just can't see myself playing this vs Rag or any of the other standard Legendary fatties that are more consistent.

Fun card though, would love to wrong about it. Brilliant vs Druid maybe?

I could see him being great in a warrior deck. Save for turn 10 with the 2 cost card to give him charge.

Yeah, find it pretty unlikely as well. Unlike other good 8-drops, foe reaper doesn't do anything on the turn it is played. If it lives, you will most likely win the game, but that is a big if. So as far as win conditions go, it is rather weak, compared to the competition.

Charge is 3 mana. Unless someone saves the Coin until 10 mana, that combo is impossible. And possibly intended, though it wouldn't be overpowered at all if Foe Reaper was 7 cost 5 attack 8 health.

Added Ancestor's Call to the shaman epic list.

It could be quite interesting given the usual shaman midrange or control. It's obviously best when used with as few and big minions in hand as possible but is especially nice when used on stuff that has a negative battlecry or other effect like Earth Elemental. The downside is one also has to factor in minions the opponent might have and figure out if the opponent's card is likely to be weaker or otherwise managed okay.

Well, there's a minion that reduces Mechs' cost by 1 so combo with Charge is possible.

Ancestor's Call is bad. Way too situational to see any play outside of tournaments (where you can see cards of your opponent).

Such a shame Tree of Life lost to this because people had hopes for healing Shaman's card...

    Three new reveals today!

Anodized Robo Cub common Druid card.
    Fel Cannon rare Warlock card.
    Screwjunk Clunker rare Warrior card.

The Robo Cub is cute! And it's a solid 2 drop for sure.
Fel Cannon... Is an odd one. It heavily favors the Warlock running Mech and it punishes the opponent for not running it. The stats aren't too bad I suppose since it's just a Violet Teacher if the opponent does have mech or no minions up.
Screwjank Clunker is a very likely followup to Harvest Golem or Spider Tank. Or Annoy-o-Tron if it survives long enough.

Robo Cub is definitely a very solid card. Will be one of the best 2 drops in arena, and in constructed will likely be auto add to the more Mid-range Druids.

My initial instinct with Fel Cannon is that it won't see any play, because even in themed decks (in this case mech) people tend to run a fair amount of cards that don't fit with the theme. But with around 40 mech cards in the expansion, an all mech deck may well be possible. It also has potential as an egg activator. It does have a downside of being less useful if mech decks become prevalent as you can't use it to kill your opponent's minions, but even then it's a 3/5.

Screwjank is a good buff minion there's no doubt about it, if you get the buff off you get an extra 2 stats and end up getting 5 mana worth of stats for 4. However it doesn't currently fit into any Warrior decks (or rather either Warrior deck). It seems as though Blizzard are pushing for each class to have a viable mech deck to play but not all of them are going to make the cut.

  13. #13
Keep in mind how few cards overall have been revealed. If Blizzard is pushing so much mech stuff then there will definitely be options. We'll just have to wait and see.

    New cards so far today:
    Cobalt Guardian
    Muster for Battle

Cobalt Guardian isn't really a 5 drop because it needs to be played with another Mech to be worthwhile. If it can consistently get the Divine Shield then it'll be interesting.

Muster for Battle will help Paladin early game for sure. Turn 2 Knife Juggler turn 3 Muster will be fun and help a lot against aggro.

Cobalt Guardian would be much better as a 5/4. As it is it's too easy to remove the divine shield and then kill it before it gets a chance to re-obtain it. Muster for Battle is fair enough but a little slow.

  15. #15
Agreed on the Cobalt. There are so many 3/2s that it's way too easy to trade up and kill before it's useful. There are also plenty of ways to buff a 2 or even a 1 Attack minion to deal with it. It's especially bad against Shaman given how many ways it has to deal 3 damage. Basically it's bad in the same way Core Hound is, and perhaps even worse.

Muster... I don't know. The more I think about it the weirder things get. It needs more research probably.

It's a shame, because Paladin are really the least powerful class at the moment and they really needed this expansion to give them a buff in a big way. Now they're stuck with these mediocre cards.

    - - - Updated - - -

I also feel as though some of these new cards are lacking in the flavour department. Most other cards in the game are connected to WoW lore, and yet these are somewhat lacking. I mean what is a Cobalt Guardian?

  17. #17
Cobalt Guardian is in WoW. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=60051/cobalt-guardian

But it seems the NPC has nothing actually relating to paladins.

Basically it's an attempt to get something Mech into paladin but it sucks both in terms of effect and flavor.

    I think that's just a coincidence as in WoW it's a Quilen.

Thank you for your LOVELY contribution, ross.... reported!

Update: Yay he's gone. Anyway, I love how these new cards will affect the game. There are so many more options by introducing these, honestly.
