How much gold did you save for the GvG Expansion?

Really fun how certain people voted 20k+ while 20k is the cap in HS. Sitting on 18370g right now with around 10k dust left after having a complete naxx golden set crafted.

Actually several people have proved that to be false, you can get over 20k gold, if there is a cap it's higher than that.

Personally im sitting at 14300 gold right now.

I'd rather not take risks, seeing as Blizzard themselves stated that the cap would be 20k.

Think I have around 900 gold, but I have a good 7k+ dust I believe.

Would usually have had far more, but I've not been playing HS much since WOD has been eating up my time. 1k gold should be enough to get me a fair few packs from arena though.

I just couldn't get myself to play the current, and recent meta game. It's been awful : P
And then there's the fact that I haven't had the time to play much, haven't even done my dailies every 3 days for the past 2-3 months.

But christmas is coming up, so that means some easy money - and I will probably buy some packs then.
Actually think I will start doing arena more, gotta be fun or really rage inducing with all those new fancy RNG cards added.

Still 8K Gold left. I was on my way to 20K, but stopped and just bought me packs and some Arenas to get all cards of the basic set.

Still 8 Legendaries to go. I could craft 4 of them, but I wait and see first.


A pity this game will be going down the drain by 2016... I think early on I spend around 160 Euros on it (first 5 months).

Typical whale game: an ever thinning ACTIVE population that spends MASSES of money on each expansion just to keep up until ... 200K players are playing and Blizzard closes down the thing (or simply stops making new expansions) .... and will launch .... a new CCG with ... Diablo 3 characters ... by 2017 ?

So, the numbers aren't surprising. Almost 50% of people didn't save any gold for the expansion (most likely people that are still missing plenty of cards from the main set) and then we have close to 40% that saved between 500 and 3000 gold, most likely people that already have all the cards they want from the main set but either started saving much later or simply don't play that much and couldn't save more. And finally we have the minority, people that saved more than 3000 gold, though I am suprised that in this group the huge majority of people chose the over 20000 gold saved, I find it a bit weird that there are so few people in-between 3000 and 20000.

Anyway, the people that saved over 20000 represent the "hardcore" Hearthstone players, probably have been playing since Beta and finished their collection a LONG time ago but remained active players in the game.

You are looking way too much into these data coming from an internet forum.

People lie on the internet all the time.

1. 20 K Gold is the cap. So almost 10% lied they had over 20k ....
2. I have 8 K Gold and still miss 8 Legendaries. Even some important ones. So the reality is different.
3. People don't realise just how much playing time and solid $$$ needs to be spend to get all the cards.

You can only estimate but my guess is that playing a full year at 3-5 games per day and an extra 400-500 dollars spend would be adequate to get the basic set and of course Nax.

That amount is almost tripple the amount you would spend on WoW... No wonder HS made an estimated 120 million dollars in its first 6 months official launch.

So for the sake of this game I hope they will limit the number of expansions to 2 per year. But even then ... no one in his right mind would try to catch up in two years time.

I really wonder how Blizzard is going to tackle this problem that always kills these Collectable games after 2-3 years ?

Except for Magic that seems to recruit new players by dividing their blocks artificially every 2 years (and really suck their players dry during that short life span), no CG (including figurines, dice, cards etc) managed to survive the 3 year barrier decently. From Dragon Dice to A&A Miniatures.

Of course it is the new wave of commercialisation with added expansions, DLC, whatever. Where were the times we bought a new boardgame and played it for 4-6 years before an expansion came out ?

Got about 1000, most gold I've ever had :3. Hopefully 10+ packs and the free arena runs will get me at least some good cards.

I have about 800 gold right now. I wasn't really planning on saving, I just ran a few arenas and completed a few dailies after a few days break and I realized the new expac is hitting in like a week or so. So with that in mind, I figured "fuck it, I'll just wait until it drops before spending any cash".

Still need to grab the last wing of Naxx, but it's not like I really, really need them so I haven't bought it yet.

Was planning on buying a 40 pack, then just arena runs/gold/crafting for the rest... but the shop is down. So maybe tomorrow?

Nought, nada nilch - Going to arena for GvG cards and use dust to backfill old "vanilla" cards - slowly, and still missing old commons. Decided to dust duplicate goldens for more dust now.

This new system, I saved up around 2400 and still only scratched the surface of the cards. I have been played since a few months since open beta started and while playing almost daily I still haven't got all of the original set. Now having to worry about the new set too is troubling. Now the amount of gold needed to get all the cards is pretty ridiclous, hell the amount of cash would be pretty crazy too.

Boogie bought 306 packs and didn't get all the cards. I think he got pretty close, and was able to finish most of it with the dust (he had nearly 13,000 dust), but still!

Ended up saving just under 1k gold so I was able to buy 9 packs for a total of 12 packs (with the 3 freebies). I'll use my dust that I've saved to make any cards I feel that I need. It will take some time to get a good feel for what I want/need.
