SC2 Pro disqualified for tweeting that he's going to rape competition.

    http://www.gamespot.com/articles/pro.../1100-6423795/

Hungarian professional gamer Mihaylo "Kas" Hayda was recently booted from a StarCraft II tournament after he tweeted that he was going to "rape" his female challenger during an upcoming qualifying match. The tweet has been deleted, but not before it was captured and posted in a Deadspin report.

The tweet said: "Going to rape some girl soon. #fragbitemasters". Hayda was referring to his upcoming Fragbite Masters Season 3 tournament qualifying match against opponent Madeleine Leander. She wrote about the "scary" message in a post on E-Sport.

I'm not sure how to feel about this. While such a comment is obviously wrong, how is it any worse than saying '' I'll murder/kill/wreck the competition '' ?

Obviously the SJWs are triggered by the ''R word'' these days, but if you go and say rape isn't a joke then you might as well also say that murder and violence isn't and that's opening a big cap of worms.

It reached a point where rape and nigger are worse offences than saying you're going to kill someone, even if it's a joke.

I also wonder what the verdict would've been had the opponent been a male. Note the comment was done on Twitter ( which should not impact what happens at the tourney, but whatever ).

Oh and I also think she made a way too big fuss over it, considering as a gamer you see such comments all day. She admitted to being worse than him and many say she took the chance to disqualify someone that was a threat and used it.

    Which is pretty much cancer.

Yup, threatening to rape a female. What a class act! Besides everybody knows it doesn't count if you yell "SURPRISE!" first. What a dingbat.

Stupid comment yes; not like he was going to act on it in reality. Still, such behavior reflects badly on his sportsmanship and thus why he was removed.

Rape jokes only work if its against other men. I say that in jest, but nobody would have a problem with this if it was a guy tweeting about another guy.

I personally think the whole "I'm gonna rape today in team fortress!" or "I got raped by this boss!" to be disgusting usages of the word, but its popular so I got over it.
    You're a towel.

Poor choice of words, but it's not like anybody actually thought he was going to rape her... right? It's obvious that he just meant he'd win convincingly, and worded it badly. The DQ was probably justified, and it probably won't hurt him too much.

He didn't even say it ingame.

He said it on twitter. Why would a Twitter message disqualify him from a SC2 tournament?

And that's ignoring the fact that worse things are said between guys all the time and no one bats an eye.

What's worse is that the girl being a pro gamer is obviously used to such things but she played the female victim card perfectly and got him DQed.

Good lord that crap even here.
The term rape is only acceptable when used against another males since that's funny and shit. Tough deal but well not unexpected.
Ridiculous though he got dqed from an entirely unrelated tournament but hypocrisy is strong in esports anyways.

If he wrote that he is going to rape the competition or a male opponent, then it was all fine. But because he wrote girl, it's not? Bit weird if you ask me.

Sure, making a joke about rape is a no go. But come on, we all know he was not going to literally rape her. Just beat her up really badly in game. Stupid thing to tweet, but a bit over the top reaction too.

Thorin got fired from a job at IEM Katowice for stuff he said on his own show. The reason people get fired/DQd for stuff they say on social media or wherever is that it could reflect badly on the company/tournament.

And they should care about SJWs because... ?

Most normal people wouldn't take offence to that tweet. Hell, I'm sure she didn't because I get insulted on a daily basis in League/DotA and I play way less than Pros do.

He obviously meant rape as in wreck.

It wasn't his own show. Also to be fair that case was a bit different as he was supposed to be the host of an event and obviously offended half the live audience so the esl didn't exactly have a choice there.

May I put that quote on my signature? It's a winner. And it's true.

Maybe professional gamers with twitters shouldn't be such immature children and say things like that in the first place.

Dude was really stupid. Yeah, it's trash-talking, but you know using the term "rape" when referring to a female opponent is going to land you in a world of trouble anyway.

On the other hand, flat out disqualifying him seems too harsh to me. A stern warning from the organization (followed by a kick if he insists) would have been better, IMO. It was trash talk, pure and simple. Bad sportsmanship for sure, but if "rape" is a more dangerous word than "kill", "destroy", "demolish", "eviscerate" or the myriad other words used in trash talking all over the internet without insult taken, we might need to recalibrate our collective linguistic sensibilities.

Of course. I don't know why people call them warriors when they are obviously terrorizing people into bending to their will.

We all know gamers can be loud mouths, especially when it comes to competitive games, they say a lot of stuff and trash talk and it's expected. But I can't exactly go on Twitter and say, "This faggot is going to get rekt" and say, well hey! I "totally" didn't know he was gay, plus I was just trash talking!" The point is you don't put yourself in a situation like that in the first place and say something like that. "That guy just got raped" sure, you say that in your typical video game, but you don't broadcast it to everyone. Sorry, but that's just being an dumb child which is what this guy is.

Why? It's very usual for gamers to have friendly banter. There's not a league/dota game where you don't see

    ''rekt''
    ''owned''

    and so on.

    What's next, getting banned for t-bagging in CS1.6 ?

While I'm generally not prone to overreacting to normal gamer trash talk, I'm actually supportive of the outcome of this. Pro-gamers need to act like what their titles state they are, professionals. Yes, trash talking is a part of gaming (or any competitive sport, for that matter), but there are certain lines that should not be crossed.

Especially so considering the phrasing of that tweet, which even to me (a pretty desensitized individual) is slightly suspect and in extremely poor taste.

Same reason that any prominent figure is told to police their twitters, because it directly reflects on their careers if they say something monumentally stupid.

Trash talk amongst pros is fine. This is a bit beyond trash talk given the context and phrasing.

The specific way in which he worded the statement is why I think the disqualification was justified. If he had just said "Going to rape my competition in the tournament!" I would have found it less offensive because he didn't specifically call out a gender. If he had left it more "gender neutral" then the statement would seem a lot less offensive to me personally. The fact he specifically called out "raping some girl soon" is why I think it really is bad enough to warrant being disqualified.

Edit: To put it another way; I doubt you would ever see a tweet saying "Going to go rape some guy soon!" in regards to a tournament. It sounds just as weird to me as the female version.
