8+ Sata Port Motherboard replacement / Cheap Gaming PC

Since the girlfriend wants to keep this cheap and we've decided that a low-mid range laptop isn't the way to go; I'm going to replace some of the parts in my NAS tower in order to make up her new machine. This basically saves me buying a case, power supply, hard drives or an operating system.
Currently I have 6 drives in the machine.

    NAS tower specs:
Antec DF30 ATX Case (now 3 years old)
ThermalTake 800W PSU (now 3 years old)
    ASROCK FM2A88M EXTREME4+ MOBO
    AMD A4-5300 TRINITY 3.4GHZ
    NOVATECH 4GB (1X4GB) DDR3 1600
    6x WD 4TB Red HDDs

I also have a screen she can use and due to a fault with SATA ports 1-4 I'm potentially looking at replacing the motherboard anyway.

    So potentially I'm looking at:
    + 94.98 Motherboard: MSI Z97-G45 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-Z97-G45-.../dp/B00K8KODYQ
    + 167.50 CPU: Intel Core i5 i5-4690K CPU http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00KPRWB9G
    + 77.99 SSD: Crucial M500 240GB - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00BQ8RM1A
    + 119.00 GPU: Sapphire Dual-X Radeon R9 270X - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00FL8H49Q
+ 19.97 Peripherals: Redragon® CENTROPHORUS Gaming PC Multimedia Keyboard and Mouse set - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Redragon%C2%.../dp/B00K0N50KW
    ---------------
    + 479.44

I'm still not set on any of it yet. (potentially looking to see what deals become available during the week) Seen a few Crucial and Samsung SSD's on the lightning sales on Amazon already.
And the motherboard I've found this morning only has 6 SATA ports, I need at least 8.

Do they have to be all sata 6gb/sec or counting 3gb/sec too in the mix?

6GB/s would be good... But theyre only 7200RPM drives, so shouldn't made a HUGE difference I expect.

I may be able to get a replacement board for no extra cost yet. So I'm also open to suitable AMD CPU options. Potentially:

AMD APU A10 6800K Black Edition

3 vs. 6 won't make any difference for mechanical drives. Even a 15k drive can't saturate 3Gbps SATA, much less 6Gbps.

Most 7200rpm drives are hard pressed to saturate the original 1.5Gbps SATA.

Looks like its the New Mobo route.
To be honest at that point, I'm pretty much looking at an upgrade from my own current system.

Well after some jiggling around, I decided that I can use this machine for the girlfriends new gaming.
But to keep the costs down we're just going to send the faulty motherboard back to be repaired/replaced. Then she can use it when it comes back.

In which case, I need to know which is currently the best AMD CPU that I could possibly put in this board?

    Plan is currently:

Antec DF30 ATX Case (now 3 years old)
ThermalTake 800W PSU (now 3 years old)
    ASROCK FM2A88M EXTREME4+ MOBO
    8GB DDR3 RAM

    AMD A10 7700K Black Edition - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00H7Z7XA6 - £101.91

Not sure yet whether it would be better to give her my 560ti and up the card in my machine to a
Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 DirectCU II OC 2GB
so that it better supports my multiple screens, or to give her a new AMD card so that it pairs better with her cpu. (Is there any performance gain to be had there?)
