Can my PSU handle this GPU?

Now i'm looking to ditch my two 7770's and get a single card. Does anyone know if my PSU will handle http://www.ncix.com/detail/xfx-radeo...iateid=7474144

It says min 750 rec 850.. that seems like a lot am i missing something?

What would you guys suggest for someone in Canada with my build. Around 250$ or below.


NOTE: my case is not small.. but it's not huge. so i'm bit worried about anything even fitting. http://www.walmart.com/ip/AZZA-Armou...-Blue/22150950 is my case. >>

Yes the PSU is more than adequate.

The 280X you linked is good. If you can pay a little extra and is okay with the rebate you can pick up a 290:

XFX Radeon R9 290 4GB

A 290 would also be decent for a 1440p resolution.

As for compatibility, if you can't find the specs online just measure it yourself, should be fairly easy. The 290 is 295mm. The 280X is 294mm.

Also the 280X is cheaper and trade blows with the 770 or about same price for 290 which beats the 770.

the 770 is a better card, and gets better frame rate. but yes if he can afford it the 290 is more power then the 770 but the 290 is also meant to take on the 780.

Don't know if this is true but I've read XFX cards are very hit and miss in terms of DOA and longevity

Some games favor AMD and some favor Nvidia and depending on drivers, mantle support etc. one will pull ahead of the other. GTX 770 has 1GB vRAM as well, not a big deal for most games at 1080p but it can make a difference in some.

its can trade blows but the GTX 770 will average 10 to 20 FPS more then the 280X. not a lot of difference but it is an edge to Nvidia. in some games Nvidia can get as much as a 30FPS gain over AMD, but on occasion the reverse is true, but this has a lot to do with Nvidia having a bit better performing card and most programs being build on there architecture. so unless you nit pick about FPS like I do then yeah the R9 280X is = to the GTX 770 in that respect.

So if you play games you know are Nvidia favored AND you need/want features specific to Nvidia then you buy Nvidia.

Check the first link I provided for you. They trade blows, one is not clearly superior to the other one. However as I said if you have a source proving the 770 overall is a better card then I will gladly take a look at it. Especially the 30 FPS gain over the 280X would be nice to see documented.

At higher resolutions the R9-280X more than clearly pulls ahead of the 770 gtx. At 1080p they trade blows, but that's about it.

10-20 more fps on 770 gtx is a blatant lie.
