So Blizz dont want garrisons in the next expac.

Not sure how many of you saw that statement posted by blizz bout not wanting garrisons in the next expac....but after i heard it i kinda stopped caring about the garrisons.

Now im only using the garrison to level mining/engineering on of my characters and spamming follower missions getting them all to epic level 100 high ilvl(because its addicting) on my character that got the most lucky with follower proc's.

Im indifferent about the whole thing now...at first I was annoyed but then ive come to realize there isnt much to do with a garrison once youve completed the majority of tasks...not much longevity in them (at least enjoyable longevity)

and that is ok... you realize you do not have to run around like a chicken and play like a madman... be happier for it, it gives you more flexibility in game and out of the game....

Tons of work and focus went into something that you must do to start professions and to rapidly gear up early. About a month into the game and most of the stuff from a garrison is junk. Seeing how they said they are looking at expanding them with the next major patch they are clearly planning more things for them at least.

    Loot. Money. Pets. Professions.

The farm is gone, but we abused the hell out of that.
Massive daily hubs are gone. But we abused the hell out of that.
Dungeon/Raid dailies are gone. But we abused the hell out of that.

Every expansion is going to have a 'thing' that helps us during that expansion, that serves a purpose. It sounds a lot more like you don't know how to effectively use yours, or you simply have no desire to get the above listed things.

Granted, if you are in a mythic guild with a million gold and all the pets and all your professions at 700/700 on all your alts... Then yes, maybe they don't provide much. But they people that fall into that category are like... Eight.

That's not how I read it. I read that they don't plan on having the work you do in this garrison carry over or matter for whatever they do in the next expansion, and that makes perfect sense to me, because it would make those who join the game next xpac highly handicapped in comparison.

As for the system and concepts that it generated, there's no reason Blizzard won't utilize them.

I didn't see that statement, because that's not what they said. They said garrisons wouldn't necessarily be in the next expansion, as they had been designed in such a fashion that they wouldn't need to be carried over if they didn't work out, but that the technology used to make garrisons might carry over in some form.

I don't know how to feel about this but I initially did not get as excited about them because of this.. They spent a lot of resources making them an then we don't deal with them in the next xpac.
I am trying to think of things in the past that have been introduced and never looked at again but I can't think of any at this moment.
No, not raids. We get new raids every expansion, to be comparable to garrisons we'd have to get raids one expansion and have no raids the next one.

Horde garrison looks awful. Will be glad to see it go.

The way I see it, Garrisons were an experiment with the technology. To see what can be done for the future. So no, garrison's might not be back, but I think their legacy will continue on in some type of form, whether it's player housing or something else.

Now for World of Warcraft, removing major features added in the previous expansion every next expansion!
"Gamer" is not a bad word. I identify as a gamer. When calling out those who persecute and harass, the word you're looking for is "asshole." @_DonAdams

Garrisons will still serve a purpose. Free teleport to draenor with the garrison hearthstone!

why use the hearthstone when my wormhole works just as well .... mostly

Also there will probably something garrison like in the next expansion considering the massive popularity of them. Just like every dungeon/raid/battleground it gets old after a while unless they keep changing things up.

Pretty sure, they are going to run into a small issue next expansion. Your garrison by the end of this expansion will probably be a teleportable location (Garrison Hearth), Auction Hall, Bank, Guild Bank, Transmog Vendor, Void storage, Repair spot, with easy access to a major city. They are going to have to destroy our garrison hearthstone if they don't want use to keep going back to it.

Oh, and it's got a free way of making money without any effort. (Follower Missions).

They never said they don't want garrisons in the next expac. Only that our current garrison will not carry over. Not the same thing at all.

Guild garrisons. Make it happen. The individual garrisons can be a little boring after a while, but a guild garrison would be really neat.

Then you could have guild VS guild battles in garrisons. City of Heroes did this with their supergroup bases.

Or you know.. add an interesting (and functional!) major city (like Karabor was before it was changed to Stormshield) for new expansions.

I don't know if you noticed, but there is, like, at least one more raid tier before the next xpac. Which would be insanely fast, given that would be between six and nine months to another xpac... and I think you will see it being more like "one year, minimum" before we are asked to fork over another $40+ to buy content.

The second half is a legitimate complaint (not much to do when capped), the first half is "welp, there will be a new xpac in a while, so I am done raiding until it drops".

Also note: we have an announce that they are adding more garrison content in 6.2, which has the blizzard caveat of "maybe" on it, but still...

Yeah pretty much this. You may have an alternative Garrison in the next Xpac. But will start from scratch again. What I am unsure about is the actual buildings and layouts in tyhe new garrison (IF its there) and how devs will include new followers? (will the older followers be there as well, only they will start at level 100? or will there be completely new followers?)

Expect alternative racial buildings in this next garrison, though.

What? They just implemented this feature on the live realms and they already decided it's absolete?! Based on what, exactly?!

We're all going to be given Draenei space ships at the end of WoD to go hunting the Burning Legion (Thanks Yrel!). They will be our new mobile garrisons.
