    CPU and Mobo

So after updating my own PC over the last few months I've got some spare parts kicking around. I know my dad/brother would both like a PC to mess around with at home so I was going to buy the remaining parts to finish it off. While I'm relatively up to date on the higher end of CPUs/motherboards and other general parts I thought it'd be best to ask what the best budget CPU/mobo combination would be.

Budget is around £200, although going slightly above that shouldn't make much too much difference.

In terms of what it'll be used for, my dad likes to do some light photoshop work and my brother would be interested in playing stuff like minecraft when he isn't glued to his XBONE.

I've already got a case/PSU/660ti/212 Evo to put straight in and I'll be able to sort out an SSD/HDD myself.

Any recommendations for a CPU/Motherboard combo would be appreciated.

£200 only for cpu/mobo, or including RAM and storage ?

Just realised I forgot to add RAM into the list, thanks for pointing that out. I guess £250 for the CPU/RAM/Mobo would be a decent starting point. I'll be fine sorting the storage out myself so that isn't an issue

    Intel side, pick a i5-4460 (84W, 3.2Ghz) with a H81/B85 motherboard of your choice (GA-B85M-DS3H ?)
With 2x4Go of RAM, you'll be around £240.

Thanks for the suggestions, looks to be around the right sort of price. I'll take a look at some of the motherboards you mentioned.

As for the thermal paste I'll be fine, got some MX-4 lying about so no worries on that front

The higher clocked i3 with HyperThreading will be better everything they use.

That's ideal, allows me to spend a bit more money on a slightly bigger SSD.

I would recommend this, if you're still looking:

    Crucial MX100 256GB £78

Yeah I looked at the mx100 for my own build but managed to get the Evo for cheaper. Hopefully this firmware fix has actually sorted the problems out, seems other people are happy with it he fix anyway.
