2H Frost PvE Opener

Hi all,

Just curious how everyone opens up on a Patchwerk-style raid boss. Do you pop Army with 5 seconds remaining in the pull timer? What abilities do you use first? I just want to see how you guys do it, compared to me. Maybe we can all learn something.

I will open along the lines of pre-potting and popping Army about 5 or 6 seconds before we pull. Use Pillar of Frost and Outbreak, and then my first damaging ability is Obliterate (which, usually, is a crit due to Killing Machine). Then I will use Defile and Obliterate again. After that second Obliterate I will use Plague Leech, because I will get two runes back and an Unholy rune is usually just refreshing in order for me to get Blood Plague back up on my target.

Army at pulltimer 6 seconds, pop advance straight afterwards run as close as possible to boss, prepot at 2 seconds. outbreak on boss and pop trinket + PoF and after that everything is the standard thing to do rotationwise.

Always use defile over a obliterate on the boss. if he is in a position he stands still btw. dont ever obliterate over defile.

Pretty much that, but i throw my defile onto the boss while running in.

Also, in regards to Outbreak and PoF order, I suppose it doesn't matter anymore if you use PoF before Outbreak since they got rid of snapshotting, correct?

I play with Sindragosa's Breath + Scabbard of Kyanos, so my opener is quite a bit different than those who run Defile.

Pro Tip: Place Defile under the boss when running to the boss.

Sindragosa's Breath Opener:

DBM Pull Timer:
8s: Army [All runes will be up upon contact]
3s: Death's Advance [Can be delayed until 2s before pull]
1s: Pre-pot

Running to Boss:
- Outbreak [No reason to pop CD's for Outbreak due to no Snapshotting]

Contact:
- Pillar of Frost + Scabbard of Kyanos
- Obliterate x3
- Breath of Sindragosa
- Plague Leech
- Obliterate using Death Rune procs from Runic empowerment and Plague Leech
- Empower Rune Weapon once all runes are spent and runic power is around 30%
- Obliterate x3 + Death Rune Procs


During Opener:
- Use Howling Blast Procs to reapply Frost Fever
- Once Runic Power is close to being depleted and the end of your breath is nearing, reapply Blood Plague using Plague Strike
- Anti-Magic Shield [To absorb magic effects and prolong BoS]

If Runic Empowerment is on your side, 45-60 of Sindragosa's Breath.
If Runic Empowerment is NOT on your side, 30-40ish seconds.

Still a work in progress. Works wonders so far. I use BoS for single target/cleave fights. Unholy w/ Defile for 3+ targets.

Correct, here is how my pull goes.

Army at 6 sec
DA at 3 sec
Prepot at 1 sec

Run in and use defile / outbreak start single target rotation.
