I think it's because ideally you want only the toothpaste in your mouth while you're brushing because I think the water dilutes the toothpaste and interferes with the toothpaste working properly.
Not a very technical explanation I know but I think that's why, although I'm no dentist haha.
No, brushing your teeth before bed then eating a chocolate bar is self defeating. What exactly is self defeating about brushing your teeth in the shower?
It's not something I do personally, but I can see how it saves time and water.
I pee in the shower, is that self defeating too?
Nope. I do it all the time. Using an electric toothbrush makes it even easier to multitask!
As long as you're not taking a dump in the shower, there's very few body functions that can mess stuff up.
I've done it a few times, not sure if it saves alot of time since I cant clean my body and brush at the same time.
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shakes, the shakes become a warning.

I only feel weird brushing my teeth in the shower when I do it at night...in my neighbors shower...while they are also using their shower...brushing their teeth. Talk about awkward.
Here come the Irish.
Definitely not weird at all, imo.
I've heard of people doing much worse things while in the shower. This doesn't even come close...
I don't understand how it saves you time unless you also keep floss and mouthwash in the shower, which does seem a bit odd.
When you see someone in a thread making the same canned responses over and over, click their name, click view forum posts, and see if they are a troll. Then don't feed them."Gamer" is not a bad word. I identify as a gamer. When calling out those who persecute and harass, the word you're looking for is "asshole." @_DonAdams
Yes, but not for the reason you think.
If you are able to bring your toothbrush into the shower you are using an old manual one, they suck and are disgusting! Get an Oral-B electric or something like it and actually get your mouth clean.
The Oral-B also comes with a tongue cleaner and once you use that for the first time you realize why people have bad breath.... The amount of stuff that gets stuck on your tongue is just revolting.
...and don't get me started on flossing!
It's not common, but I don't see how it's weird or gross. I don't see how it's particularly convenient, either, though. I mean, that's an odd choice to use for shower shelf space/bathtub rim space, and if you aren't keeping it in there already, why not just use the sink?
