They already do that.
Clearly you haven't experienced the retarded tactics of most druids these days - regardless of spec, use their dozens of escape abilities to pillar hump all day and heal themselves back to full over and over, regardless of whether or not they have a chance to win the fight or not.
You still need some sort of system in place that allows you to switch on the fly..
And that system we got. it's called dual spec.
You preset your spec for that matter, and it allows you to switch between them as often as you please, with one button click.
Abandon that idea translates into Triple-Spec..
Unless of course, people wanna stand there, and change talents and glyphs around every other fight, for 5 minutes... I much rather have the one button/few seconds solution.
"The pen is mightier than the sword.. and considerably easier to write with."
I don't think it'd work, as a person said earlier, they'd have a brand new set of action bars each time they respec or whatever.
Instead, I wish they'd just let us have tri-spec. Hell, maybe even six specs. Or more! Make it like picking a set of stuff like you do in an FPS or something. Maybe attach a gigantic gold sink to getting extra ones. I dream of a day when I am able to click "RET PVP, RET PVE, HOLY PVP, HOLY PVE, PROT PVE, PROT PVP" on my action bar! I'll cry manly happy tears!
I don't know. Dual spec doesn't really serve a purpose anymore, though, I agree.
It's just probably seen as of little importance that they don't even bother with it because not many care. I imagine most people don't even dual spec, even, outside of getting the free achievement.
What's the spec of classes anymore. Why not let us level our guy to 100, and just change to whatever class we want whenever we want.
What's the point of faction anymore, just let us change factions with a touch of a button whenever we want.
What's the point in professions. Why can;t we max something, then switch it to else? with a click of the button.
A great improvement would be to have a tertiary spec option for each primary choice to accommodate PVP and PVE scenarios. Sure, you can just switch gear sets and manually switch your various talents and glyphs, but it is repetitive and inefficient. We could have tertiary specs that map all of that data and switch things with one click, possibly consuming a higher-tier tome reagent. There is a lot of fine-tuning if you decide on arenas rather than battlegrounds or Ashran, and changes need to be made to optimize your success. Even further, ability utility changes with different raid bosses or dungeon modes.
I think they might as well give us a lot more pre-set specs, with a hefty gold cost to unlock them. This way we wouldn't have to switch talents and glyphs and macros manually between particular fights, which gets cumbersome. It's like having 9 deck slots in Hearthstone - I'd have a "deck" for most Highmaul bosses, a specialized one for Twin Ogron, one for world farming, one for PvP, etc.
I get that you're being sarcastic, but that's one aspect I've heard in other MMOs, that I really love, that you can freely change classes, you just have to level them all, but it's still all one character, or something. I think one of the Final Fantasy MMO's do that. Frankly, I think Blizzard can be a little rigidly stupid with race/class combos anyways, though.
I think they should either have the specs there like they do now for you to change to when you wish without limiting you to two. So yeah basically it would be tri/quad spec. If not that then just allow us to make make up to 6 specs so we can still change on the fly as well as saving the action bars for each. Basically it would allow you have raiding specs and pvp specs without even having to change glyphs and talents. For some specs it might not matter as you may only have 1 dps spec and that might be all you do. For some classes like mages, rogues, hunters, and warlocks, you might legitimately be able to use all three specs over a raid because they all perform well on certain fights. I can say for me, I would probably go assassination on twin if I could but I use combat/sub more often and cbf'd porting to respec for that one fight and then back again after it.
I never did understand why a third spec option wasn't an option Id know Id use it. Then again I don't want the Blizzy fanbois to come in here whining were just lazy and they respec 100 times a day arguments.
Hopefully Blizzards next mmo is more immersive.
Restrictions and limitations may seem needless but at the same time it contributes to the immersion because RL is full of restrictions and limitations so in a way we feel more in tuned with this digital world when we aren't the gods of it, able to change it at the will of enough complaints.

What in WoW has been "immersive" since around 2009 (if not earlier)?
All this "immersion" is doing is removing QoL from players, and QoL is by far one of the most important implementations to a game, over some false sense of immersion because people want to keep their stupid archaic design choices.
Still wondering why I play this game.
I'm a Rogue and I also made a spreadsheet for the Order Hall that is updated for BfA.
Because if they took it away the mass amount of whiney little cunts who would come out of their moms basement to complain about it on the forums would probly crash Blizzards servers.
Just give us Rift's system and be done with it.
It just seems like a huge QoL change that would be more than welcomed by players.
They should just let us have a setup for each of the possible specs. I don't understand the big deal. They didn't want us going to the class trainer in Cata anymore, and so gave us the spells automatically. Now we have to run to the trainer to change specs. Seems just as pointless as the class trainer for spells.
My only problem with switching specs on the fly is that I think it would give cheaters a huge venue for exploitation; especially in PvP. I think it's much easier on the Devs to just have separate specs. The balancing in game right now is not exactly perfect; I would expect things to get worse if they did away with the specs.
1) Install the addon ActionBarSaver
BAM
Problem solved.
Was that so hard?
