    sounds pretty good..

there is no LEGAL piece of information that should require encryption methods that the government cant access... if someone is encrypting their useless, meaningless stuff, then they are doing it wrong... no one out there cares nor is looking thru it 24/7

ps: the government doesnt care if you tell your friend via an encrypted text that u like her

It's in effect. Porn producers in the UK cannot feature the specified acts and VoD services within the UK cannot offer porn containing those acts.

    "UK considers banning private communication"

    No, it doesn't.

"Stupid Prime Minister makes stupid comments that he hasn't thought through and have no possibility of having any effect on anything"

    Yes, he did.

We have this thing here called a "general election". You should read about it.

But what if that friend has a family member who has regular contact with someone in the middle east? Would not be surprised if your encrypted communication would no longer be classified as meaningless then.

It's like that saying "you are connected to any other person in the world trough 7 other peoples contacts", and the algorithms they use have no problem making 3+ of those jumps. (i think there was some news about the NSA a while back that they were now limiting themselves to 2 or 3 of such jumps, and you can asume the GCHQ has simiilar workings.)

We have Parliamentary Democracy. Sometimes we vote in retarded governments and sometimes we vote in really retarded governments, but in every case we vote for them in a democratic process. The US doesn't have more freedom than the UK, it has different freedoms, and I personally prefer the UK model.

Hardcore porn is illegal in the UK, it has been since effectively forever, a lot of legislation was put in just to make sure the existing laws weren't being circumvented.

It's odd as we invented Parliamentary Democracy and someone from the US doesn't need to look further than their Northern neighbour for an example of British Parliamentary Democracy.

You can make it, but it should be pixellated or edited for distribution. You can't show an erect penis or insertion of an object into a vagina or anus, at least that was always the traditional rules. One of the reasons British people of a certain age have a thing about Scandinavians is that the only proper porn available to British people was bootleg Swedish porn.

this is why I just can't take our politics seriously here in UK. we have a history of politicians who do stand up comedians out of their jobs without trying and who couldn't make a sensible decision to save their lives. it's getting to the point where satirical news shows like Have I Got News For You find themselves just quoting the actual news rather than making jokes because the effect is pretty much the same

not that idiot politicians is anything new, but it used to be that they'd at least have someone whose job it was to check their speeches and stuff before hand to make sure they didn't make too much of an arse of themselves

The Guardian piece hits the nail on the head.

If Cameron was suggesting that encryption was a “bad thing”, he’d not only wreck civil liberty; he’d wreck the entire economy of Great Britain. He either knows this, or has been told since making these comments. His actual argument is about data management across Europe, data retention on specific individuals, alterations to Shengen rules and re-introduction of border controls across Europe. Naturally, America is also weighing in on this.

The odious Nigel Farage of UKIP is going to have a field day with this. He’s undoubtedly going to argue that the free movement of criminals and terror suspects is a key weakness of the EU, and one that he’ll talk up in order to frighten even more British people.

Sadly, the solution was there all along.

Britain should not be getting involved in foreign conflicts to protect corporate America’s oil imports.

Sadly, our current government (and the laughably-termed “opposition”) will continue to do so, because it’s all they know. Scotland is largely going to vote SNP come May, and I can only hope that large swathes of England support the Greens and the Welsh get behind Plaid Cymru.

    Fingers crossed.

Except it’s not “democratic”. Princeton recently argued that the United States isn’t a democracy, either.

It is democratic, it just isn't direct democracy. The people vote in their representatives in a first past the post system.

This. the sky is not falling. It's all ok.

that being said, I feel every mis step the conservatives make at this stage simply hands ukip more voters. ukip is NOT the right answer imo. but, it is AN answer. to the same old 2 party system, (then again, we thought that about the wetfish clegg.)

First of all, the concept of freedom and privacy seems to be completely foreign to Cameron.

Second, unless he somehow manages to close England itself off from the rest of the internet. It will be practically and legally impossible for Cameron to enforce the law in it's current proposed law.

Third, it's morally despicable to make it illegal to use certain forms of communications under the guise of suspicion. It's also extremely fucking stupid, in order to make snap chat for example illegal the government would have to announce that it's under suspicion. Effectively revealing to any would be terrorists that their communications are being read.

The fucking clowns in Europe and America proves again and again that terrorism works. What kinda fucking cunt is this? In light of attacks on freedom of speech in France, we will fucking help them and attack it further. This time however, we will call it a legal democratic process. Personally i don't get why people skip countries easier.
Patch 1.12, and not one step further!

What interests, specifically, are you referring to when we’re talking about invading middle-eastern countries, who primarily export oil that Britain doesn’t need?

America is also getting close to energy independence, actually, going off something I read recently. I’ll try to find a link for it.

According to the Princeton research, that’s not correct. They concluded that rather than a democracy, the United States is now an oligarchy – no matter how you vote, the results will be largely the same as the government will legislate for corporate America before it’ll legislate for the people.

If you and I were to argue about whether FPTP is democratic, I think it’d largely be an argument of semantics. It’s technically democracy, because people get a vote, but I personally think it’s undemocratic due to arguments mainly put forward in the electoral reform commission (wasted votes, spoiler effect, two-party promotion etc).

What that Nigel Farage who bitched about no legal representation for British citizens in the EU countries, then worked against EU measures to bring this in?
The Nigel Farage who has actively voted against measures to have joined up police actions against Europe to catch criminals and who then bitches about freemovement of criminals?

That same two faced piece of shit you mean?

Firstly we don't get involved just for oil as political influence in a region that's sandwiched between Europe and the Orient is extremely important, secondly the oil companies involved aren't just American.

I don't care what people in Princeton say about the US as I was talking about Britain.

Britain has democracy, it isn't a perfect democracy but there has never been a perfect democracy (bar maybe Switzerland, but they are an odd place where whacky stuff works). I prefer fptp as it limits the power that extremist parties can gain, others think that's unfair, however democracy was never about fairness it was about the majority of people having their say/way - for an example of how democracy wasn't ever fair one only has to look at some of the mental decisions that the Athenians came up with.
