I try and respect the religious beliefs of others, I really do, but things like this make it really hard for me when it comes to Islam.

    Yes.

Also remember that a lot of people would want, say, rapists or pedophiles to be flogged in the public square. I guarangoddamntee you that a dickload of people would personally volunteer to whip them. Human beings are prone to truly disgusting behaviour.

Least he didn't get his head removed.

Like some women and men do in SA.

And also, his punishment (lashing) has been suspended for the time being due to medical reasons while the kings office looks into it.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-30856403

The case of a Saudi blogger sentenced to 1,000 lashes has been referred to the Supreme Court by the king's office, the BBC has learned.

Blogger Raif Badawi's wife said the referral, made before he was flogged 50 times last Friday, gave him hope that officials would end his punishment.

A second round of lashings was postponed for medical reasons.
Said office has been known to act with mercy.

Saudi Royal Family rule with an iron fist. The attempted 'arab spring' got hammered down. Arrests with charges such as 'disobeying the ruler' in special kangaroo courts. Not a good place to be a human rights activist, Shia or woman.

Unfortunatly for them, they have a growing educated and more liberal young generation coming through which are going to start asking 'why don't I have the same rights as my peers in other countries'.

We should really stop selling them shit but Prince Charles loves dressing up and lobbying for BAE systems.

They also love beheading people : http://www.independent.co.uk/news/wo...g-9982134.html

I also find it funny that SA knock down and build shit on holy sites but no Islamic fundamentalist is like 'yo they are going to bulldoze the tomb of Mohammad but lets go slot some old people who drew a picture instead'

And of course they are major funders of terrorism, pushers of Wahhabism and have pretty much cornered the market on priniting Qurans.

Islam doesn't like having its religion insulted. To that I express my freedom of expression, and say f**k you Islam.

This rings in with how the pope recently said he thinks nobody should insult religion, that its off limits to being insulted. My sentiments for the pope are the same as onto Islamic fundamentalists

And being in the West, you're as free to say that as someone is to say "fuck you" to homosexuals, British, orc fetishists, or anyone else. The law and customs allow for such freedoms.

Sadly, KSA is a different story.

The pope is telling us we need to sacrifice what is most precious in our society, so that we can protect was is most deserving of criticism. It was a despicable statement. And it didn't receive anywhere near the press it should have in the US.

You can express such freedom only in Internet. Try it in real life and see what happens. The freedom of speech, in some bigots' term on this forum does not exist and will never exist. People feel frustrated when the thing they value is insulted. Same for my family, you can't just insult my family and go away with it.

When is Islam gonna have it's french Revolution. Cuz this crap with their Religion being sacred is stupid. it's true Religion has been part of human history for a long time but if we are to progress Religion is to be abandoned. People having an opinion shouldn't be punished for it and that is a reason why I hate it. As much as I dislike other Religions I actually give them credit to a small degree for having grown a thicker skin then Islam.

But Really what the fuck is wrong with them. Freedom of speech should be applied in Arab countries and I hate that People like Raif Badawi have to suffer for doing what is a human right.

Just shows how "modern" everything there is. Blasphemy in this day and age? Really? I don't see anyone getting lashed and put in prison in this catholic country. :P

Disgusting people. Humans really never learn.

You can't impose things like democracy or free speech, especially through coercive or military force, on every culture easily. Democracy, freedom of speech, freedom of religion came to the West via 2000 years of philosophy and socio-political events leading to an open society. The history of the Islamic world is not the same. So imposing an outside system on them will be problematic to say the least.

I am Quite blunt when It comes to these things and I don't respect Islam because It doesn't respect the world, only themselves. I have far more respect to Buddhist that I do for Islam. I thinks it's time to stop sugarcoatting Islam and call it out for what it is.

But don't forget, we should respect them because they're totally compatible with a benevolent, free society. And we should definitely import a bunch of the people that have proved over and over again that they can't distinguish personal belief and law. That will turn out well.

And then we should ignore all the studies done that find that the more monocultural a country is, the happier it generally is. Why? Because some politicians like the word multicultural.
