The law demands the Facebook password

Well apparently some states in the United Police States of America have passed a law that allows schools to ask their students for their Facebook passwords, in order to prevent abuse and cyberbullying.

    http://www.cnet.com/news/new-illinoi...ook-passwords/

On the plus side, those children will get used to being spied on by the government and having their personal information being used by more or less dirty government employees to further their own agendas, or even to further some shady government agendas.

Yes, when you want pass a shady piece of legislation you can always blame terrorists and pedophiles. Freedom and privacy be damned, gotta nail those pedophile terrorists.

If you think the US is anything close to a police state you are retarded.

And I'm probably being a little harsh on the retards by lumping you in with them.

How can this be allowed? Isn't this blatant privacy infringement?

I know ill be hated for this but cyber bullying victims need to learn about ignore/unfriend/block functions in social networks. That and the mental healthcare here needs improvement.

It's sad that this happens. It is sadder that people don't care.

I would rather just close my facebook than give them my password. Not that I have anything close to interesting or anything to hide. But it is still private.

Facebook has been dubious for quite some time. A large part of the problem is that it's so ingrained into today's culture that many people don't bother boycotting it despite disliking the shadier practices associated with it.

    Hah! Murica!

In my country you don't have to give your passwords to anybody, even the police, and you won't be punished for it.

Wouldn't worry to much about it after awhile someone will fight this in court and it will go up to the supreme court. it's stupid this even got this far but I don't think it will be around for long.

This is hilarious. You've extrapolated "Silly school policy to prevent cyberbullying" to "WAHHHHHHHHH FREEDOM WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SCREAM AND RUN IN CIRCLES"

You know what you have to do? Provided the password when requested. You know what you do 5 minutes later? You change the password and then they're fucked until they ask again.

Ugh. As the IT guy for a school, they'd better not make me do this shit.

From the words of Drake & Josh, "That is NOT my job~!" [insert sassy black girl head bobble]

Also, this is a serious invasion of privacy. That said, it only allows schools to ASK for the passwords. The kids can flip them off and say no... until they start adding more and more punishments for the students to give in.

It would seem like, if it is behind a password, that a warrant would need to be issued to get access to it in the same manner that the police would have to get a warrant. Schools are far over reaching anymore.

    Do people really use this?

Then they came for the internet porn–society collapsed in a day.
Wait until they come for Reddit.
