What do you mean gone? Doesn't this mean it will be more viable than ever?
Should max out at 675, same as Honor Gear. Was always going to be a problem removing PVP Power and Resilience and I still think some PVE Trinkets may cause issue similar to 5.2.

Yeah the tweet wasn't specific but I am pretty sure they mean 680 is the ilvl cap for PvE gear in PvP, not that all gear will scale up that amount.
Awesome. I thought that they had already done the 680 scaling, but apparently not. They had talked about it before during beta.
I also wonder what they mean by buffing pvp trinkets, will they increase their stat budgets or slather some more damage reduction onto them?

It will scale down, not up obviously.
Nope, right now for example a 691 mythic piece will scale down to 690, while epic pvp gear has the same ilvl, the pvp gear will scale to 690 in the while mythic will be 680, nothing big imo.. there are still a few classes that can afford to lose the 15% less dmg from trinkets and use BiS pve trinket that give a sh*tload of stats.
Lol at this whole situation, really.
Remember the good old days of BC, when PvE gear in PvP would get you destroyed, as it should? Of course, this was back when you took full damage, even in PvP gear, and stuns/cc were few and precious....yep, those days are long gone, lol.
Can you imagine what the outcry would be from the raiding community if PvP gear were viable in raids (not LFR, I mean raids), or if people in greens/blues had their gear "normalized" or "scaled" (or whatever euphemism Blizz uses now) so that they were instantly "competitive" in those raids? Like I said, lol at this entire situation, looks like it has actually gotten worse since MoP somehow.

Welp, it was fun playing an mmoRPG if for only the first few months of the expac. Back to pandering to moba/CS:GO/insertmuhskillzgamehere crowd that cry because players who vanquish lore figures are more powerful ingame than people who run around in a sandbox and hide behind poles.

Some of these comments are confusing and misleading.
PvE gear that is above ilvl 680 will be scaled DOWN to 680 currently it is only scaled DOWN to 690. PVP gear has never scaled UP in raids as it requires PVP combat to jump up to the PVP ilvl 690. The trinket buff is great to reduce the amount of PVE trinkets being used in PVP and actually slowing down damage cant wait. Also a big fan of them displaying the buff so you know if a player is not using double PVP trinkets.
