Need a new PC, help appreciated.

Need help in picking out parts to build a new PC. Currently using a Dell XPS710 with a GeForce GT 630 put in around October. Would not mind keeping current monitor Acer P221W unless there is a reason I should change it out.

    • Budget: $800 - $1200
    • Resolution: Currently 1680 x 1050
    • Games / Settings Desired: Current Blizzard line up of games, WoW on Ultra or High at the least.
    • Any other intensive software or special things you do (Frequent video encoding, 3D modeling, etc): Nope.
    • Country: United States, I live in Orlando,FL closest Micro Center is in Atlanta,GA. Just a tad bit far for a drive.
    • Parts that can be reused: Other than what is listed above I am using a Logitech G15 keyboard and a G5 mouse.
    • Do you need an OS?: Currently have Win 8.
    • Do you need peripherals (e.g. monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc)?: Other than what has been listed I have speakers I got at the same time with the PC so possibly dated but works fine.

Hoping to get something decent where I won't have to upgrade to much in such a short time frame. Thanks for taking the time to look this over.

You didn't really answer or wasn't clear if you need a new o/s in your new pc or if you are using it on your current pc. Either way i included it on the following setup, however if you don't need it you can just get an i7 4790k instead of the i5 since you will save those 90bucks, if you wish so.

Can't help you with microcenter but as far as i know there are nice deals if you pay them a visit. They usually have i5 4690k/i7 4790k + Z97mobo's combo deals that have you save like 40-50bucks.

With the following you won't have to upgrade anytime soon, thats for sure.

Kosta you just suggested a gtx 970 to someone that has a 1680x1050 monitor....

Rest of your suggestions are surprisingly solid tho! Nice find on that CPU cooler for 35 bucks. OP you should really upgrade monitor first thing you do, then a high power graphics card would make sense. I dont have any good suggestions other than look into 144hz monitor or 1440p monitors, they can be had for ~300 or less and i feel are the best upgrade a PC gamer can make.

Thats a serious question? Its a massive waste of money lol, the 970 is designed for gaming above 1080p and that super fast GPU with 4gigs of ram is wasted on such a low resolution. First thing OP should do with his budget is upgrade his monitor, then build a proper gaming system around that.

    I would recommend this build.
Since you already have OS there is no reason to include it.

These are generally higher quality items, and each I have personally never had any problem with.

Also when you have the money upgrade your monitor to a 16/9 monitor like 1920 x 1080

    i love the sarcasm, thanks...

So? Some ppl don't upgrade every 2-3 years. They go for 5+. Provided the budget, op has the ability to get a gpu that will last for those years, a 760 won't. Just because he/she has the 1050p now doesn't mean it will be that for as long he will keep his/her pc. In 2-3years op may want to get a 144MHz@1080p or a 1440p. What then? Snap my 760 can't handle it very well, i didn't buy that 970 when i could...
Op gave a budget and proposed the best within it, its as simple as that.

Really depressing how some people see hardware and gaming. Right now a 970 maybe much for 1680x1050 but in a year or two it maybe barely able to handle that resolution with high or ultra settings. Look at the Xbox One or PS4 which can't even do 1080p in most games at 30 fps. We're talking about hardware that's barely a year old. A lot of games are forced to use 900p or 720p. Some even less.
