What forms of PVP you'd still do if there were no rewards for PVP at all?

A very quick way to separate the chaff from the wheat in terms of gameplay is to ask yourself: what exact things you'd still do if the only reward for doing them was fun.

Let's say the gear treadmill is gone - you get all PVP gear for copper, and it is not good for PVE (the PVE ilvl is 600, the PVP level is 690, for example). There's no conquest, no honor. There are ratings, if you think it's important.

What forms of PVP you'd still do? (Check as many as you want, or check "Nothing" if you are currently doing some PVP and would stop doing all forms of PVP at all.)

I'd still do BGs, rated or random. Maybe some arena on occasion aswell.

Not going to lie. I need to feed my ego. My ego is what keeps me going and what makes it fun. I understand I have to be humble, but for every humble part of me there has to be an ego part. Kinda like Yin and Yang.

Take away the rewards and I'd stop playing. If I can't enjoy my rewards or showing off a few times then the struggle wasn't worth it.

I'd still do arenas because it's fun to play around with friends. Wouldn't do anything else though, I don't really do any other PvP anyway because it's a boring mess outside of arenas.

Probably the occasional BG. But I mainly pvp for the mounts really, assuming those get removed as well. Don't think I would do a lot of arena anymore. So I would probably level some more alts and make money.

That said: working towards mounts is something I consider fun. I like striving after a goal to reach. Be it achievements, titles or mounts. The gear doesn't have my interest as its a means to reach my goal. The only gear I find valuable is good looking gear I can transmog to look superswagalishous.

Whatever doesn't have much hacking so that's really world PVP (hacking is rare) or Ashran (hacking means nothing vs 20+ people). RBGs and arenas are almost exclusively for hackers and baddies so you either face someone that you'll stomp without effort or go against someone that blatantly hacks and spams emotes. RBGs are that on top of DDOSing.

World PVP is dead without a dedicated 100 zone or dailies. Garrisons giving people shit free without going out to farm lessened it a tiny but but that's one of the only small downsides of garrisons. Ashran is shit ATM because they put in a 'fuck Alliance' feature with the reset of the boss every 30 minutes. That means there's not only no more big battles but no easy way to walk in and get free conquest.

So yes to sum it up, only world PVP and massive PVP are real PVP. I'd still do them without rewards as long as they are fun and hacking is rare or means nothing. Rated PVP is exclusively for hackers only now.

how can so many ppl enjoy bg's?
i consider myself a pvpler but i hate having to go bgs to equip alts.
it's sometimes fun if you join with 4 of your friends because one of them needs to equip an alt and then you go ahead and stomp a bg like warsong,gilneas, arathi or twinpeaks, but other than that i really don't like it. it's not fun having to rely on a bunch of randoms that suck.

As Wass said, this is a RPG and advancing one's char through better gear/rare awards is what keeps people motivated.

But anyway, if there were no rewards at all, not even achievements, I would not PVP at all. Only the eventual skirmish out in the world if some Alliance decided to pester me, but that is all.

If you stop to think, even the eventual skirmish still gives Honor and HKs... So, I guess giving no rewards at all would stop PVP completely.

I play a random bg instead of LoL sometimes. Its just fun to do randoms aswell as arena and rbg. I dont play for ratings (of course id like to get higher rated) but it doesnt effect my gameplay.

I'd do all but Ashran, although 3's/RBG's are more of a dream than a reality at the moment. PvP is good fun (except Ashran) so I'd play it all.
