Because blacks are continuously taught that their problems are the fault of others and not themselves.
Could be social pressures from poor black kids in their school to be a part of their group.

None of which are satisfactory.
Still, most economists lack a clear, definitive explanation for why, after reaching the middle class, many black American families quickly lose that status as their children fall behind.
More likely to be arrested and given felon status, pretty much severing your chances to maintain your parents status?

Tons of blacks want whats best for the other. I think the "peer pressue" that you speak of is only for younger age groups (teenagers)
That'd be my first guess. But one would think being in the middle class income range would cause a dent in even being in the environments where they happen the most.

The brand of music ran and controlled by whites and whose consumer base has a higher proportion of whites?

High percentage minority school = failure in life on average.

This scares the shit outta me.
I was always under the impression that, for the most part, the worse you could do is fall slightly under your parents status.

My guess would be that as a black man, finding a good job is more a matter of luck than merit. If you're black and good at your work, it doesn't mean people will hire you.

yeah. if your parents are situated enough to carry your sore loser ass through life, then you're correct... That's true for all colors, for all classes.
But if you don't work enough, if you don't try to better yourself as much as you can, and there's no support from family, then you're shit outta luck.

A lot of success in life comes down to social connections too. So if you're a white guy in an area where people feel more comfortable with other white guys, you're likely to make friends with other white guys. If white guys have the ability to give out the good jobs, then you're more likely to get those jobs if you have friends or family of friends or family that can get you that in. Conversely, if you're a black dude and white guys aren't as comfortable with you on average, you're less likely on average to make friends with white dudes. And if white dudes are overwhelmingly the ones who have the ability to give out the good jobs, then you're less likely to get those jobs if you don't have friends or family of friends or family that can get you that in.
Even if it's not intentional racism, a lot of people naturally gravitate to people of their own ethnicity, and when one ethnicity traditionally held all the socioeconomic power, it can be difficult to break into that.
