This is a video where a baboon kills and eats a young impala. Don't worry its not that graphic (atleast not in the beginning). Read the comments. People are saying "OMG SHOOT THE BABOON" or "I HATE BABOONS!" and stuff like that. For the life of me, I can't figure out the mentality behind this. Morality is a human construct. What kind of moron expects non-human animals to abide by the Geneva convention? I mean yeah, alot of animals do have complex social groups and interactions but to get mad at a specific animal for being savage is like getting mad at fire for being hot. Both are just doing what they're meant to do. Even though baboons are pretty high up on the intelligence scale among animals, they still rely far more on instinct than humans do.
It reminds me of an incident a few years ago in High School when my teacher showed a video of a male lion killing cubs from another male in order to put the female lions back into heat or something. A few girls in my class were like "OMG WHY DIDN'T THE CAMERA MAN HELP THE POOR CUBS!". I think alot of people genuinely believe that nature in real life is the same as it is in Disney movies. How else could they form such immature opinions about the wild? The first rule of field study is that you NEVER interfere in nature. Let the circle of life do its thing. Natural selection is the law of the wild. Why is that such a difficult concept for people to understand?
