Why do some people have such naive views of nature?

This is a video where a baboon kills and eats a young impala. Don't worry its not that graphic (atleast not in the beginning). Read the comments. People are saying "OMG SHOOT THE BABOON" or "I HATE BABOONS!" and stuff like that. For the life of me, I can't figure out the mentality behind this. Morality is a human construct. What kind of moron expects non-human animals to abide by the Geneva convention? I mean yeah, alot of animals do have complex social groups and interactions but to get mad at a specific animal for being savage is like getting mad at fire for being hot. Both are just doing what they're meant to do. Even though baboons are pretty high up on the intelligence scale among animals, they still rely far more on instinct than humans do.

It reminds me of an incident a few years ago in High School when my teacher showed a video of a male lion killing cubs from another male in order to put the female lions back into heat or something. A few girls in my class were like "OMG WHY DIDN'T THE CAMERA MAN HELP THE POOR CUBS!". I think alot of people genuinely believe that nature in real life is the same as it is in Disney movies. How else could they form such immature opinions about the wild? The first rule of field study is that you NEVER interfere in nature. Let the circle of life do its thing. Natural selection is the law of the wild. Why is that such a difficult concept for people to understand?

Because people are concerned with how things feel to them, not whether they are true or how their actions will impact anything else. It's just "how does this make me feel? Bad? Then it should stop."

What previous people said, but also the fact that we're biologically wired to respond to anything baby-like, which includes other baby animals

Pretty much this. Plus there's the whole siding with the underdog mentality.

YouTube comments are not meant to be talked about, its a cesspool of terribleness no matter what video, what channel or what context. People will say whatever nonsensical, bullshit thought that comes out the tips of their fingers without any actual thinking, logic or reason and will say anything to start a 50 page debate about pandas poop being black or white on a video about snakes and ladders. YouTube comments are probably more entertaining then half the videos you'll actually see on YouTube.
"They will come for us now, all of them" "Let them come, Frostmourne The Banshee Queen hungers."

People fail to realise that a predator kills prey young/parents because it, itself, is also a parent with young to feed.

From my experience, the audience will mostly side with the "main character" of a documentary, be it a butterfly or a lion regardless of what it does. Unless of course the documentary shows behaviour we don't usually associate the animal with due to misconception or otherwise (like in this case).

Makes me smile every time someone says something like "animals are better than humans".

Or why some people think it's necessary to post in "why do some people" threads, without contributing anything.

Props to them for killing only for food, if cornered, territorial fights or to pass on their genes.
However now I got myself confused, am I talking about animals or MS13 :/
But soon after Mr Xi secured a third term, Apple released a new version of the feature in China, limiting its scope. Now Chinese users of iPhones and other Apple devices are restricted to a 10-minute window when receiving files from people who are not listed as a contact. After 10 minutes, users can only receive files from contacts.
Apple did not explain why the update was first introduced in China, but over the years, the tech giant has been criticised for appeasing Beijing.

That's not true. My cats kill animals all the time just to play with them.

Partly play but also to hone their hunting skills. The reason cats bring "gifts" in for their owners is because they think you need to learn to hunt properly. Ours used to bring in mice put them in front of us, look at us and then let them go for us to catch -.-

    This seems relevant -

    Lets see...

Cats will torment their prey for endless hours of pleasure and learning...

Deers will actually eat meat, a.k.a baby birds on the ground

Animals are only cute when they are babies, but the majority -> 99.99999% are mean vicious fuckers when they turn into teens.

Humans are one of the few animals that have what 99.9999999999999999% of life forms don't have, Empathy.

Baboons are crazy bastards. They might just do that. They're also incredibly fascinating. Check out this video of them kidnapping puppies and raising them as pets.

When I first read the title of this video, I thought it was referring to actual Saudi Arabian people lol.

How do you know they do it to "hone their hunting skills" and not just because it's fun? And that the "honing of the hunting skills" is just a side effect of it being fun to them? Our cats know when we see them bringing in mice, we will take them away from them. So they try to sneak them in without us seeing it. If they were really meant as a gift, and maybe sometimes they are, then they would always directly kill them and bring them to us and not run off with them into some remote corner of the house and play with them.

My experience with some great apes can tell you that they aren't instinctual as other animals, but besides from that most other animals use their instinct as a guiding tool. Hell, humans do too as much as we like to deny it, everything we've built has been based off one instinctual occurrence.

    Hope you like the videos.

Only because they're incapable of that. All of those things are just as natural as a lion eating a zebra. They are the result of human advancement, technological progress or just straight up capitalism. Someone is always benefiting from those actions so you still have the "survival of the fittest" thing going on. They may not be passing their genes down in all cases but you still have that same competition aspect that is present in nature. If another species were to eventually evolve into intelligent beings capable of forming complex civilizations, I'm sure you could find plenty of things to criticize them for.
