"In one post widely shared online, Hicks, who claimed he was atheist, allegedly wrote: "When it comes to insults, your religion started this, not me. If your religion kept its big mouth shut, so would I.""
Sad attitude, extreme atheism is just as bad any any religious extremists.

And by "here they come" I assume you mean "Here they already were", people have killed over religions for quite awhile, even here in the US. It is not as widespread as some places, but it happens.

They look like a really nice couple, sad they were killed

"Police haven't said what may have compelled the accused
Social media users wondered what, if any, role the victims' faith played"
Meh, the police can't say anything this early even if suspected, social media gonna social media though. I'm sure the anti-anti-religion people will be tweetin' about it quite a bit :P
You're a towel.
There is definitely a great deal of hate of Muslims, and that could lead to crimes, but there is no actual evidence that this was the case, yet. Its very possible that it was, but there could be another motive. All the media is currently basing their "theory" on is a Facebook post. If I killed everyone I insulted in Facebook posts there would be a lot of dead people.
"The round, metal cooking utensil referring to the larger, cookware customarily used for, but not limited to, stews, as being of a dark shade or possibly of African descent." ~~ Fixed for now. But keep in mind any one of the words used in that fix may become politically incorrect or offensive at any moment for any reason. Further amendments may be required to prevent frivolous lawsuits in the future.
Though it does look like a case of religious crime (or anti-religious in this case), I'll wait for the full details to discuss further.
It is very saddening though. They were so young. Very tragic.
I don't recall any atheists killing in the name of an imaginary all seeing entity. Religious extremism has a very well documented history, none of it good. Militant atheists only take umbrage when religion impacts on their lives, and even then they don't respond with threats, torture and murder. They educate.

The media doesn't believe muslims slaughtering non muslims is hate crime or religiously fueled so i'm gonna go ahead and say this isn't either.
Its only fair, right?
Extreme atheism to blame not patriotism.
Ah, this just makes me sad. They looked like nice people.
Not sure where you get this from... other than your arse. Of course, the media believes that Muslims killing Non-Muslims is a hate crime and religiously fueled. However, the may the point, rightfully so, that just because some extremist kill other people in the name of religion that it does not mean that Islam is a religion founded on killing people... anymore so than Christianity (which is actually to blame for a lot more deaths over the centuries and even today).
Especially when you look at the fact that this whole mess is a fall out from the creation of Israel after WWII (where the Catholic Church sided with Hitler btw) because the book of myths said Israel needed to be reborn in order to usher in the end times (which have still not occurred).

Really? Nobody out there that hates religion so much they would murder someone for being religious? :P
As an aside, I am not a religious person. And I don't care if you are or aren't. I just think your denial of atheist extremeists is silly, considering, you know, the evidence.
You're a towel.
This criminal wasn't doing it as like a patriotic message or something it seems, but based only on his dislike of religion. IF they want to use a lone wolf attack as evidence everyone hates muslims, they are quite silly.

And, you don't believe that their are, out there somewhere, people that would commit crimes based on them disliking people that DO believe? Strange that you would believe that.
You're a towel.
