You're Mike Morhaime. What's the next Warcraft game?

    What ho,

Like the title says. You're Mike Morhaime and have one decision to make: What is the next game set in the Warcraft-universe?

    I'll begin and say:

'Legends of Azeroth', an RPG akin to The Witcher and the Elder Scrolls.
    • Open world environment.
    • Cross-platform.
    • Excellent graphics that are slightly more realistic than usual for a Warcraft-game.
    • 1-8 players campaign, and every character is unique and important to the story. No "Greetings, Elf X". Every potential player added is part of the group of adventurers set out to "save the world".

Well they got RTS, MMO, card game and Moba/dota... I am gonna go with Facebook game

Seriously though, a single player RPG could be interesting, however I am burned out so probably wouldn't even buy it.

Activision is teaming up with Electronic Arts to release World of Garrisoncraft!

Think "The Sims, meets WoD." The game will be released as a mobile/Facebook app and will be controllable via simple touch-interfaces. The garrison feature in the Warlords of Draenor expansion was just a tech demo for the full featured WoG app.

The game is free to download, but will be supported via microtransactions and small-cost DLCs.

This but with a story spanning multiple time periods, starting with the sundering, visiting major events in Warcraft history, and ending with a fight between the races of Azeroth, Old Gods, Burning Legion and Titans, where you can choose(depending on what choices you make beforehand) which faction you align yourself with in the war. Betrayal is very much possible, so you could make choices that align you with the Burning legion for most of the game but then do a series of quests for another before you finish the main part and convert to them, while retaining the skills that are unique to the Burning legion but being limited in what you can learn from the new faction.

Something very story driven(unlike TES) but also with a lot of exploration(dungeons for loot mostly but also other secret areas that reward other things).

Dungeons would be instanced but everything else would be open(ish) split into continents like wow is but without loading screens, all the loading is done while traveling(you need to travel to get between continents either with boats/zeppelins or with portals, and they all require a few seconds of travel time to allow the loading to happen but you can do stuff while on the boat/zeppelin such as proffs or sell stuff, maybe a minigame).

The combat would be something akin to Kingdoms of Amalur, a bit more polished and balanced.

No classes, you learn spells/skills from tomes or from masters directly, but to have some sort of limit(so you don't learn all skills ingame and become OP as fuark) you need to choose 3 schools from the available ones (physical, frost, fire, shadow, etc) and you can only learn skills from those 3 schools but once you learn skills from them you can combine them. For example you choose Physical, Frost and Shadow, and you learn Mortal Strike, Frostbolt and Vampiric leech. You can then combine all 3 of them into 1 skill(losing these 3 skills permanently) into a new skill having the effect of all 3, this way you make your weaker spells stronger while also making room on your action bar for other spells.

Well, looking at your list i can clearly see why you are not Mike Morhaim and aren't in charge of something like Blizzard.

    Draenor-High dating sim.

You play as garrosh-chan who just moved from his(her ?) home city to a new one and is in first day in new school. The game will give you option to date diffrent warlords, create military power, go out with friends and perform holocaust. And all of that in high-school setting. Because you will do everything for your senpai to notice you.

Warcraft 4 - An RTS using each race as playable

the expansion: Warcraft 4: At Lands End - combat begins on the shorelines and ports of each continent of Azeroth, setting up the next wow expansion

World of Warcraft: The Seas of Azshara (pirate based expac) where your ship is now your "garrison" and your followers are her crew. You send them ashore to mine, herb, skin, and craft for you, while you are otherwise engaged in battles at sea with NPCs and even other player ships. Best be stocked on cannonballs and powder, cause this is about to turn the Maelstrom RED!

Yes because TES and Witcher totally didn't make a shit ton of money, and that's without multiplayer... a game like that but with multiplayer would make billions.

Not talking about WoW expansion number 6, then I'd say something along the lines of Dragon Age meets Warcraft.

    -Single Player campaign
-Same factions/classes/specs/races (spec chosen at character creation)
-Talents reworked to provide playstyle changes, rather than a menu of abilities. You put points to bolster preferred skills and can choose to have a more relaxed priority system or button mashing rotation that requires proper timing and organization of skills to pull optimum efficiency. Points may also change whether you focus on single target, cleave or aoe, or a jack-of-all-trades (same thing with healing), and tanks can choose to focus on dodge, block or parry tanking, or go with an all around build.
-Story takes you through the expansions of WoW in a cohesive flow of time rather than feeling all disjointed because of MMO reasons. You get to fully experience the stories of the individual zones as THE hero of Azeroth, not just one of many random heroes. For all the story points and conversations you get fully animated and voiced cut scenes to the effect a single player game might bring.
-Dungeons appear throughout the single player campaign, you bring 3 A.I. companions of varying classes/roles based on your chosen one to fill out the group so that you have a tank, a healer, one ranged dps and a melee dps. You can cycle through them on the fly to coordinate the battle better, or use a custom A.I. priority system. This also includes raid dungeons for larger groups (story mode version giving players a feel for mechanics with a smaller group of A.I. to reduce difficulty a bit, unlocked multiplayer versions acting like they do in WoW currently).
-Completing the campaign dungeon/raid unlocks access to multiplayer versions that make use of the current WoW LFD/R/G system, providing a bit higher difficulty and better loot/rewards (usable in solo campaign, like having unique armor sets, mounts, and perhaps special weapons/trinkets only found in the multiplayer runs). Multiplayer runs will not reward EXP, so a person might be able to run them at level as long as they wish, to collect the weapons/armor while they may yet be of use (at max level an option to scale down will be available, but the rewards will not scale upwards).
-Transmog system set up to be like D3, once a piece is collected it will check into a tab system with filters for armor type, usable level, and armor slot. With a still image capture of the item to show its model and color.

-An entirely separate entity created and balanced around PvP, so as to not detract from the campaign or PvE multiplayer experience (and of course vice-versa).
-The PvP portion gives players access to a multiplayer zone like Winter Grasp or Tol Barad, with two faction camps, vendors for PvP gear (starting PvPers get a set of green gear, with higher tiers not totally blowing them out of the water stat-wise), the entire zone is toggled for PvP with raids on opposing faction camps permitted (after NPC respawn, they are given an immunity to death buff for a set duration, to prevent complete griefing).
-Much like currently present in WoW, there is a tool to select a battleground and whether you want it to be ranked or unranked (with filters for group size, map, and some functions like a CTF, resource fight, death match, oddball and other such gimmicks).
-Open up a map editor for custom maps that can be shared, can participate in them in unranked form only. Option to rate how well liked a particular map is (and up vote for mods to potentially look into formatting them for ranked play).
-Provide a spectator mode, for players to watch the action of other battles that are taking place. Various preset camera locations that the player can swap to, using a thumbnail panel where the action bar would normally be located.

TLDR; Basically WoW, but taking the next step of removing the whole MMO questing experience and replacing it with a localized single player campaign and finally making PvP a separate experience.
"Believing something is not an accomplishment. The stronger your beliefs are, the less open you are to growth and wisdom, because “strength of belief” is only the intensity with which you resist questioning yourself. Listen to any “die-hard” conservative or liberal talk about their deepest beliefs and you are listening to somebody who will never hear what you say on any matter that matters to them — unless you believe the same. Wherever there is a belief, there is a closed door."

If it was to warhammer 40k what warcraft is to warhammer: fantasy battle, then it would be pretty shitty.

As much as it pains me to say it I think that RTS as a genre is hurting even more than MMO's. If Blizzard wanted to go big, something like Skyrim but set in Azeroth would be ideal. Would probably sell really well too.

a 3rd person, story-driven hack&slash action game where you play as the titans, with a full-fledged campaign for each of the playable titans, fighting against the old gods, establishing planets such as azeroth, and culminating in sargeras turning to the dark side

I would love for a Mass Effect like warcraft game where our choices matter...plus elf sex

I was thinking a 3rd prson hack and slash too, but instead you have two separate campaigns (Alliance and Horde) taking place across the first war. You play an unnamed Horde or Alliance soldier, and you can choose your class too but their abilities would be more limited than those in WoW obviously, and there would be some class restrictions (warlocks and shamans Horde only, priests and paladins Alliance only).

    -snip-
With no offense intended, screw DA and anything trying to be DA-like. All iterations of DA had very shallow story decisions and characters interactions, on top of a pretty shallow combat engine/rules. The DA franchise has been a graphic update of Baldur's Gate/Neverwinter with everything scaled all the way back for a barely intelligent audience to get through it. The lead designers for the first DA even stated that they were trying to make another Baldur's Gate.
If we go for a single player Warcraft RPG (which I'm all for), I want Baldur's Gate/Neverwinter level of rpg, with something akin to the 4e rule set because that translates to better gameplay in crpgs, and Blizzard level of attention to graphics and detail.
All of that being said, we will never get a Warcraft single player RPG, because Warcraft 3 started it's development as a CRPG, and when they decided they didn't know how to make a good CRPG, they reused the engine to make an RTS.
What are you willing to sacrifice?
