i dont care how it looks but what bothers me is that they chose the most boring story in the warcraft universe, who gives a shit about durotan and thrall, everybody wants to see Arthas or Illidan's story...

That's not quite true. Game of Thrones has very little moral relativism because virtually everyone is pretty much what our society would consider shockingly evil, if not outright psychopathic. Where GOT shines is that it makes you LIKE all those bad, bad people.

You're right about the audience, they're clearly in shade, and they all do look to be in shade in the setting. Look at the brightness of where they are compared to the building in front. Light is shining on the building and the top of the stairs, but the courtyard in front seems to be in in shade

You mean the front of the building is clearly in the sun by design and because they didn't think to actually simulate the sun for the physical shot it looks like they have a grey filter over everything. Have you ever been outside? if they were in the shade on a sunny day a shadow would be projected across everything from the source of the shade, compared to the brightness of the sun that you can clearly see on the front of the building. Unless this is a minecraft building made from Lightstone I guess, sure, that sounds plausible?

the footmen dont have shadows because they are literally STANDING in a shadow. something bigger to the right has cast a shadow down across the *audience* while its shadow ends just up the steps, allowing for the walls of the building to cast their angular shadows across the front door/gates. you would need a view from about 6 feet higher to see this clearly, seeing this whole scene in motion as you will in the movie will show there is something behind or to the left of the camera (and crowd) that casts its shadow across this gathering.

I'm actually pleased with how the CGI is turning out.

Also, I dont think it's fair to assume this movie will do badly because it is based off a video game. Warcraft has a ton of great lore, unlike most video game movies...

I think it's hilarious that people feel so strongly towards things Blizzard is involved with on both sides. Like there's people who will probably spend days coming back to this thread to suit their argument, over and over and over, because they actually do care. It's entertaining, to see on both fronts.

The city lands occasionally.
Use some magic to pull it down.
Use some trickery to cause them to land it.

There's lots of ways to do it, really.

I honestly can't imagine a scenario where it's well-received publicly, but I guess that doesn't really determine how subjectively good it will be. That's up to the people watching it.
Worst case scenario, I think it will be loved by diehard lore fans, because it seems to stay (somewhat) true to the real story based on what we've seen, with maybe a bit of cinematic embellishment.

I personally think it looks terrible, and that's as someone who likes a lot of high fantasy-themed movies and someone who loves Warcraft lore, but I'm simply not impressed at all by the movie so far. Lots of CGI, lots of really horrible acting, lots of claymation-like orcs...doesn't look like my thing.

Dalaran destroyed by Orcs 2nd war - Mages had to make an item to rebuild it
Dalaran invaded by Orcs to get items for Ner'zhul
Dalaran invaded, large amount of destruction 3rd war by Arthas and then completely flattened by Archimonde which you can clearly see from the cinematic

Guy on MMO champ considers it a non issue, even though in every instance of it being displayed up until WoW it has been on the ground. Talk about ignorant.

He didn't have any of those things at the time, next attempt to rationalise? Guess they must be pretty stupid to be tricked to the ground by Arthas, only to have Archimonde finish them off later on? You should apply as a lore writer to Blizzard.
