if policemen EVER did something like this here in Germany, they'd rightfully lose their jobs over it. Then again, this is murrica and police officers always have to assume that everyone and their newborn children are armed to the teeth so they need to be cautious as hell.

Dunno bout US cowboys, but in germany, policemen are trained to use the least possible force w/o endangerim themselves.
I doubt they would even have taken out their mace in this case.
