malware scanner/anti virus..

I haven't really paid much attention in the past 5-6 years, I was wondering what the best anti malware software is now. used to use ad aware and spy bot search and destroy. Hell, used to use avg as well, but not sure what the best in that is either.

Suggestions? I'm not worried about having to pay a bit, but nothing goofy like 50 bucks a year..

I use malware bytes. only costs $25 for the full version. You can use the free version too without real time protection.

That sounds like a real good place to start. Thanks mayhem. I believe it's probably all in the definitions and such for any "good" protection.

I use Avast as my standard anti-virus. If I feel the need to run an malware/adware scan, I use Malwarebytes and/or SuperAntiSpyware.
