Lets pretend this is correct, it would have to be nearly 3x as fast as 980 to make financial sense lol. Ya, thats not happening.

Yeah, gaming won't be able to fill more than 3~4.5* at most (the top end due to Maxwells supposedly more 'efficient' architecture in that regard). But it does make use of it with computing.

* = which is not the same as caching up all of it, for you other people. 680 2GB and 680 4GB, the 4GB is slightly worse on high textures on average

iirc the titan-x is aimed at people planning on 5k gaming

There's only one 5k standalone monitor (Dell UP2715K) at the moment, and one attached to a mac. O.o
Really not sure how that'd even work out for them.

if you're relying on 5k sales, probably not so well, but depending on the price, these might sell well as compute cards, and that means the price will need to be reasonable, too high and most people getting them for compute will just spring for a tesla K80 (5 grand)

if these come out at ~$1300 then i can easily justify picking a few up, one for my system for fun, and one or two for my brother's workstation to use as cuda compute processors
