    Nvidia announces the Titan X

    So here we go

Specs that are known so far

    8 billion transistors
    12GB Vram

    suspected specs:
    24 SSM's
    3072 Shaders
    96 ROPs
    192 TMUs

    More info at GTC

Anyway, I just hope they won't market it as a gaming GPU. And in before a 980ti launches for half the price with similar gaming performance

I get the feeling that'd be exactly what happens, marketed as a gaming GPU again. Any idea on the bit rate / bus / whatever.

Yep is going to be marketed as a gaming GPU because it will lack double precision(leaked specs on january).

Any thoughts on Titan X pricing? $999+?...
    I've seen estimations on 1500-2000. I'm personally thinking 1200~

But are you ready to fork the 5000$ that nvidia will probably ask for this gpu though? That is the question.

    Hah you wish!

There is no way this will be any less than three thousand dollars.

1500.00 would be a good deal actually, but knowing nvidia they can charge whatever they want AMD cant catch em lol.

Lets pretend this is correct, it would have to be nearly 3x as fast as 980 to make financial sense lol. Ya, thats not happening.

Yeah, gaming won't be able to fill more than 3~4.5* at most (the top end due to Maxwells supposedly more 'efficient' architecture in that regard). But it does make use of it with computing.

    * = which is not the same as caching up all of it, for you other people. 680 2GB and 680 4GB, the 4GB is slightly worse on high textures on average

There's only one 5k standalone monitor (Dell UP2715K) at the moment, and one attached to a mac. O.o
Really not sure how that'd even work out for them.

if you're relying on 5k sales, probably not so well, but depending on the price, these might sell well as compute cards, and that means the price will need to be reasonable, too high and most people getting them for compute will just spring for a tesla K80 (5 grand)

if these come out at ~$1300 then i can easily justify picking a few up, one for my system for fun, and one or two for my brother's workstation to use as cuda compute processors

The world is not ready for $4k gaming.
